I started rereading The Expanse books the other day and I got to the last line here and actually laughed out loud 🙃

Leaderboards have a ton of tools to make moderating boards easier Here's the built-in retime tool: frame skip to the start frame, press start, automatically skip to the end, press end, and record time. Doesn't have to be hard! Works for both twitch and youtube VODs

as someone who's been very publicly vocal about calling out sexual abuse/harassment, the respect I demanded from men decreased dramatically when doing so after transitioning. if you're a man, you have a responsibility to leverage that because women just can't. men only listen to men.

been looking into this a lot with the recent paper mario port release, and I'm absolutely not defending the AI use (like it's still enough that I'm not gonna play it), but "vibecoded slop" is definitely inflammatory and not at all accurate from what I've seen.

throwing in my two cents: I personally want to avoid using projects which utilize generative AI for many of the same reasons already cited here. the admin/dev consensus here is different, and well okay fair enough I'm not gonna come out of nowhere and convince you all otherwise. the main thing I want then is just for it to be readily apparent that LLMs are used in these ports so I know to avoid them. and like clearly we're all aware now, but I think the current response is proof that the AI policy was, while not a secret, obscure enough that plenty of people who care didn't know about it, and (interpreting things in good faith here) the devs were unaware of how important this is to a lot of people.

yeah tbc me saying "hard" was based on the sheer number of commits that are coauthored by claude, specifically in the libultraship repo. I've been reading some of the discussion in the discord and my read is they were genuinely caught off guard by how much many of us dislike LLM use in any capacity

I mean I get what you mean, but a good PC port has clear advantages over emulation, such as reduced input lag and much better performance. also I think it's a stretch to call n64 emulators "good" lol, even if they've gotten a lot better in recent years.

unsurprisingly I was very bad at the game, but I did actually win one single match legitimately. I was terran and teched up to cloaked wraiths and the guy just had no detectors at all. he proceeded to crash out at me in the chat and accuse me of cheating, which I found very funny lol.

the strangest thing I've noticed about taking the bus is that when I tell people that's how I got somewhere, they act almost horrified for me like it must be a huge inconvenience, and I kinda just don't understand why? the bus is hype, you pay a small fee, sit in the AC and don't have to park lol

yeah can't really fit my thoughts into a single post, but basically, the reality is most people today use LLMs, teaching harm reduction (like local LLMs) is much more effective than shaming individuals, and studies show the more people learn about how LLMs work, the less they use them overall.
