As soon as I read that, I knew from personal experience that it was wrong. When such a fundamental error is made so early in an article like this, my immediate thought is, "What else is potentially wrong in here that I won't notice since I'm not familiar with it?"

Really strange, based on my completely unscientific observation that the Leeds branch was always busy whereas the Manchester store is like a ghost town.

Yes, exactly. Fast forward a couple of years, and she knocked a coffee over the MacBook Pro. Expensive cat this one.

I had a 30" panel sat on my desk behind me, connected and working, looked great, but cat then decided to walk across it and it cracked under her weight.

a few years ago, it was difficult to find any of the larger panels in the UK. So I bought direct from one of the manufacturers in China. Problem was you then needed a device 2 drive it e.g. ESP 32 board, or STM device. So...

IMHO, once you've seen a couple of Succession episodes, like Quincy M.E., you've seen enough; the story then just continues to revolve around a couple of themes. We binge-watched it and were both of the view that it was highly overrated.

I'd have been happier if the passport guy had just bounced anyone who had not registered but was in the 'I've registered' queue to go and do it for them to then come back and join the queue again.

Jamie @jcmm33.bsky.social · 02/09/2026
When I went through Munich last year they had segregated the passport queues into those that had already registered and those that hadn't. I joined the "already registered" queue but what's in front of me? Lots of people who actually hadn't.

I think there are some operational / functional issues at times. The security guy at Zurich showed me his computer animating for well over 30 seconds whilst it processed my passport details.

I have that experience on entry there just a few weeks ago. I told the bloke i had registered last December and he told me I needed to do it again. I then checked the ees site and it said i was fine for my stay. Seems that some on the ground staff dont seem to fully understand how it works.

No one ever claims that they think through their policies, or moreover as the US has demonstrated, many voted for Trump even though his policies at the time were flagged as going to make them poorer.

Spider Man Rides The Tube Not every superhero swings through the city, some catch the tube instead. It took a few attempts to nail the timing, but I finally made the SpiderMan poster look like Spidey is hitching a ride on a passing train. Captured at Oxford Circus station.

For any of those 'traditional' contracts that used to include an inflation+ yearly price rise, whether it's broadband, mobile, or any other service, I'd suggest the chances of you getting ripped off are pretty high.

i have memories, since I'm old enough to remember the soviets sending a fair few probes to Venus in the 70s, and I think one did survive long enough to send a picture back. So, I presume the storyline arc in part is a reflection of this...?

Anecdotally,I'd suggest that many of these online tools, AI or not, miss the mark by not looking to improve the students' performance based on what they are examined on.e.g. 1 v popular math tool only looks for correct answers, not working out, but generally more marks r awarded 4 showing the method.

There is a slight potential downside to the Boox devices with colour; the colour is at 150ppi, whereas black and white is at 300 ppi. So, whilst text, for example, in the note-taking app using colour for highlighting looks fine, fire up a magazine with colour, and it can be less than ideal.

Wrote a letter to Donald Trump, putting him right on a couple of points about London. This one stood out: London’s life expectancy is better than *all 50* US states. www.thenewworld.co.uk/james-ball-a...
In fact, we do better all round. Despite everything you’ve heard – and sometimes said – about the dangers of “socialised medicine” and “NHS death panels”, on average we live longer in London than you do anywhere in the US.

Our overall life expectancy here is 81.4 years – a figure that probably looks pretty low to a 79-year-old President, I’ll admit – but that’s better than any US state. Hawaii has the best life expectancy in the USA, and it’s 79.9. In Florida, the home of Mar-a-Lago, it’s 76.1 years, and that drops all the way below 71 years for anyone living in Mississippi. Hey, what do you think of “Move to London and live another decade” as a slogan. Think it could catch on?

How Google Maps determines restaurant survival. This brilliantly unearths the political economy of the algorithm here. "You start seeing an algorithmic market - one where visibility compounds, demand snowballs, and who gets to survive is increasingly decided by code."

The BBC is the latest part of ‘the public realm’ to feel the wrath of the right. The playbook is wearyingly similar. Underfund them. Hold them (piously) to the highest standards. Pillory them for all errors. And then co-opt, or neuter, them. 1/2

I've always felt that for quite a few of their voters they have some misty eyed view of the good old days from when they were a kid, and how things were supposedly always better then. I'm not sure how stocks and floggings fit into this 50s view of Britain.

The reference to Thatcher's reductions is, IMHO, slightly disingenuous. To quote Christopher Johnson's book on the economy under Thatcher, "The curbs on public expenditure made the UK a country of private affluence and public squalor".
