Lion's mane (Hericium erinaceus). I like that one of it's names is Bearded Hedgehog which makes me think of a hedgehog santa bringing toys to all the good little hedgehogs. Found inside a fairly freshly split tree that had fallen in the last year. #fungifriends #forestfloor #fungi #mushrooms

The biggest photobombers are springtails though they are pretty small, then slugs, then a grab bag of random insects. The funniest one was a bug almost as big as the mushroom I totally did not see (to be fair it was dark and I forgot reading glasses) big freaky Mantidfly.
