Are we pretending Twitter wasn’t a divisive sewer before he bought it? It was just a place for people to scream at eachother in text

It’s like saying that communism is authoritarian an authoritarian ideology because Mao, Stalin and the like manifested Marx’ vision that way in reality. And I bet a lot of you in here would be really uncomfortable accepting that!

Yes, Zionism has been manifested as an apartheid state, and has resulted in war crimes and crimes against humanity in West Bank and even genocide in Gaza. But we can't just ignore history and use a quasi-academic framing to suggest that ideology is racist inherently.

You can go back 3,000 years to the Levantine peoples, originally founded in the Kingdom of Israelites 1208BC or the Philistines who settled in Gaza. To start arguing about ethnicity because of the enslavement and latter expulsion of Jews from the land to Europe is mental.

The Green Party’s ‘Zionism is racism’ motion is optically damaging for 2 reasons: 1) They’re having a nuanced academic debate in public. 2) Inconsistency: they are singling out one nation having a ‘religious centre’, and not with Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, or even the UK with Anglican institutions

What we need to do is pay workers in the care sector properly in house and ban the services being owned by subsidiaries, that can exploit migrant labour with modern day slavery conditions, from our system. Why would any migrant worker want 10-15 years of that?

Tory hypocrisy summed up in a single video! Kemi Badenoch has learned nothing from her previous mistakes

The problem is that it is very easy to break things; it is very easy to head for the simplest answers; what is not so easy is making a new vase entirely from scratch when you no longer have the resources to make that happen, because the Tories have also broke the means to make new vases too!

This is the 40 years of privatisation Andy Burnham is trying to undo.
110
JBE POLITICS @jbepolitics.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
You head off to buy one from your local retail park, you get to the till, and they make you pay for it, ignoring their fault in the ordeal, claiming you should “take responsibility for your own life and your own things” because you never had the vase glued down to the sideboard in the first place.
110
JBE POLITICS @jbepolitics.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
They say “oh look, this is broken” (not admitting they broke it, nor apologising). The owner of the vase (the public) suggests gluing it back together, but they shrug this suggestion off and suggest you throw it in the bin and go out to buy a new, more expensive one, from a realtor.

JBE POLITICS @jbepolitics.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
The best way I can describe a Tory is that they are the sort of person who would walk into a house and pick up somebody’s favourite vase, the vase being any given public service, and drop it on the floor with it smashing into two pieces.

The problem is that he is offering an Attlee settlement with Osbourne’s economics, which is not possible.

Works for Trump in the US. Makes me laugh when people say “you can’t impose American politics here” like it’s not just populism flourishing in hard, divided times.

Your argument is just incredibly reductive. You can tell you have most of your political conversations online and you never actually meet anybody in public

Christ almighty. We’re going round in circles. Why do you think I keep bringing up Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana?

JBE POLITICS @jbepolitics.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
I am answering your questions. I distinguish my party from a government. I can be in a party and against a government position. How do you think we got rid of Kier Starmer? Because we disagreed with his policy on Gaza!

Just a classic case of purity testing really. Given I work for a union, I work with people on all spectrums of the left, and I’m just happy that most people can get along and not be a complete gatekeeper like yourself, who clearly only interacts with others online and not through action. Childish

Just a complete strawman argument. It’s pathetic really

Again, do you think that of Zarah Sultana, who was paying for her membership under the Starmer government until she was kicked out??

I’m bringing him up because he’s definitely somebody you like to prove what you’re saying is ludicrous

JBE POLITICS @jbepolitics.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
It’s not I “don’t want to admit what I’m supporting” it’s that I disagree with you and that you’re wrong. I have called out this genocide, I’ve been on the matches; but I’m also a member of the Labour Party and the wider Labour movement and I won’t apologise for that because im not Kier Starmer

JBE POLITICS @jbepolitics.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Again, you’re insinuating that Jeremy Corbyn supported the Iraq war because he paid his membership to the Labour Party in 2003
100
JBE POLITICS @jbepolitics.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
The whole idea is that Corbyn wrestled the party away from the right. Burnham wrestled the party away from the right. It’s about making convincing arguments to take the country in a better direction from within, rather than just shouting on the sidelines.

JBE POLITICS @jbepolitics.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Again, if Jeremy Corbyn wasn’t kicked out of the Labour Party he’d still be there today. Clive Lewis, Richard Burgon, John McDonnell are all still there through all of it. If you can’t distinguish between being a member of an organisation and the actual government then that’s really strange.
100
JBE POLITICS @jbepolitics.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
You also telling me him shouting from the back of the commons had any impact on what was happening in government? Did it bollocks he was in no better position than I am now to pressure the government from within
100
JBE POLITICS @jbepolitics.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
That might have been true under Starmer’s leadership, not seen any of that from Andy

JBE POLITICS @jbepolitics.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
I don’t think that’s okay, no. I take it you hate Jeremy Corbyn too for being in the Labour Party during the Iraq war, yes?

JBE POLITICS @jbepolitics.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Attlee also set out a path to full employment, which was driven by his policies. We did not start of the post-war years with low employment. Which is why Burnham’s path towards youth employment is important.

JBE POLITICS @jbepolitics.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
@lbc.co.uk The main problem with Burnham's optimism is that he is offering Attlee's settlement with Osbourne's economics. They don't marry up; after the war, debt was twice as high in relation to GDP as it is now and we still did it.

JBE POLITICS @jbepolitics.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
What do you want me to do be in the Green Party? They are basically just liberals, focused on culture war issues and rejoining the EU (a neoliberal institution)
