The best way I can describe a Tory is that they are the sort of person who would walk into a house and pick up somebody’s favourite vase, the vase being any given public service, and drop it on the floor with it smashing into two pieces.

@lbc.co.uk The main problem with Burnham's optimism is that he is offering Attlee's settlement with Osbourne's economics. They don't marry up; after the war, debt was twice as high in relation to GDP as it is now and we still did it.

John Healey's conference speech spells danger for Labour
As John Healey delivers his first speech at Labour Party conference as the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the UK are left wondering how his treasury will deliver different results to Rachel Reeves.

That is a ground invasion. They have a naval fleet that is capable of cutting our cables; they have intelligence services, with China, that co-opt disinformation campaigns in the UK. Surely we can not be that thick that we don’t understand this? We can invest in it all, it’s a political choice.

The UK economy isn’t a household budget. Households need to be paid before they can spend; every time a government spends, it creates new currency. Money nurtures investment and spending power in the economy, whereas tax takes money out of the economy to control inflation youtu.be/4AyhV70BDwE?...

The proposals would also see benefits cut for people who are able to work but have failed to hold down a job.

“I am happy to pay income taxes but not a wealth tax. The wealth tax will destroy the possibility of independence” Rory Stewart is the epitome of a Tory. No matter how much he tries to posture as a cuddly ‘centrist dad’, he has no idea about the concept of how generational inequality is bad.

The only way Andy Burnham’s Labour win the next general election is by doing 2 things: - Restoring the UK to a meritocracy, where workers can get on. - Turning the UK into an actual democracy, rather than a vehicle for lobbyists and bond markets to rule the roost! Don’t rely on Reform’s demise.

Don’t underestimate the power of a majoritarian base. Let’s not forget that they are still on course to win in key Labour seats, and without Restore’s small vote share from Reform, they’d still be out in the lead as of today. The corruption won’t change a thing!
