We have 3 Chevrolet Bolts. One of them we bought in 2017, it's almost 10 years old now, nearing 400 000km. Battery still almost as good as new. They're very reliable too, which is probably why GM decided to stop making them 😅

Yeah, I've noticed the anormal mat-orange sky these past few days. What is causing this? Last year, it was wild fires in BC

I tried Only Office to see if it's be better. It is, but it's extremely slow for some reason. Everything I do seem to freeze the program for half a second, and opening it takes forever. I went back to libre office after two weeks.

I use libre office currently, it works fine and it's fast, but the UI is confusing, requires much more clicks to do the same things in excel, and some features are kind of broken making using it really annoying to use overall.

Just found a huge pile of office 2007 installation discs with license codes at work. Might try that out since every other office software available today suck so much

Québecois TV shows! Those are usually rare and expensive, but I was able to get all that for 60$ on marketplace. Always a great find, always happy to add them to my collection.

On the left, DVD sets of "La galère" TV shows from season 1 through 6. On the right, DVD box sets of "Les bougons" season 1 to 3, "Les Lavigueur", and the movie "vitez Bougon" in Blu-Ray.

"🤓 What are you gonna do with your EV when there's no electricity?"

110

Jay beaulieu 🇨🇦 @jaystuff.xyz · 26/06/2026

... and if we add bateries we could even have lights that could be used to make days a little longer early/late season in order to grow more tropical stuff. Expensive setup I imagine, still really cool

131

Jay beaulieu 🇨🇦 @jaystuff.xyz · 26/06/2026

Imagine building a greenhouse with that stuff. Could power the fans during hot days, during spring and fall we could use the extra energy during the day to heat water banks that would prevent thing from freezing at night...

Here in Québec this is actually a law. If the displayed price is under 10$ you get the item for free, if it's over 10$ you get it at the posted price plus a discount

Fried rice is something I make fairly often because it's easy to make it good enough, but I don't think I ever made one that was actually good. Still worth doing, I usually throw all the vegetable and meat/protein that I have leftover, it's my lazy cheap meal

Jay beaulieu 🇨🇦 @jaystuff.xyz · 12/06/2026

It is perfectly fine for that (here OP managed very well), it's just very painful because of the lack of tools. I admire the persistance, that's what I'm trying to say

Yeah with ticketmaster fucking us over, I 100% understand that. However, if you are willing, there are many local bands that do good shows for little money. Some of the best ones I saw were around $30CAD, and usually the beer is better too.

One more reason to get one. If I didn't already buy my EV 6 months ago I would be seriously considering getting one of those. It's just the timing that's not in my favor

I think they do, but they're proud of it. It generates a reaction, it makes us hate them, and they love it.

FYI you’re not being polite by waving someone through a stop sign when it’s your right of way. Being polite is moving your ass according to the rules and not confusing people.

Or spending days programing something to solve a problem that's already been solved but now with more control and easier to maintain. Spoiler: It's not actually gonna be better

I only go for my motorcycle. For the grass, well, we stopped bothering with that, but I live in at the end of a dirt road with no neighbors on a homestead. Closest pump is about 20 minutes away from home. It was a real problem

Jay beaulieu 🇨🇦 @jaystuff.xyz · 01/05/2026

I don't see my ev as less convenient than my gas cars were. You see, I don't have to do a detour when I get back from work to put some gas in my car. I've always hated doing that as it makes my commute longer. Now I park my car at home, plug it, done. About 15 seconds instead of 5 minutes.

I drive around 1000 km per week. That was about $120CAD in fuel, so something like 480$ a month. Now, during the winter when I don't have as much range and charging isn't as efficient, it's less than 100$. Payments are a bit more expensive but I save so much on fuel it was a no brainer

I discovered this from the cover Type O Negative did (Angry Inch). Song was a real banger so I needed to get the movie but I never watched it. Might do that this weekend

Newest addition to my #PhysicalMedia collection: south park, season 1 through 20. Found in a local store, 5 bucks each, 100$ total. Not sure I could've got a better deal on that

At my parent's place this morning. It's -30° outside today but very sunny. The wood stove was lit this morning when it was still dark but it's now dead. Its still very comfortable inside thanks to the good hemp isolation and the solarium blowing air inside

Picture of the solarium with the fan blowing air from it to the house (little trap opened on the right above the door). We can also see part of the masonry stove on the right

being a hater is important. or rather, if you are a hater by nature it's better to not deny it. we need ecumenical haters, haters with a willingness to keep open minds, haters who can explain why they like something just as assiduously. That way when they say "this is dog shit" it has real power

This is exactly why I've been avoiding cloud based survailiance systems. I use ip cameras that are on a closed network. This whole setup requires more elbow grease, but in the long run it'll be cheaper and you'll actually own both your hardware and your data.

Nice. That's the way I make my potatoes as well. They're incredible, you won't ever get anything like it in a restaurant because it just takes too long, but I do think it's absolutely worth the trouble

It's a dell latitude, with an i5 4th gen. I upgraded it to 8gb of ram and added a cheap 200gb ssd for the OS and a 2TB HDD for data storage. It's good enough for one or two streams with no transcoding

Amazing. I'm curious to see the specs of said old laptop, if you don't mind telling. I started doing the same but I started having performance issues quickly, so now I only use it for jellyfin with a VPN and a database for a project I'm developping.
