Look at third base. The stop sign from Luis Rojas is up before Austin Wells even rounds second...

Still haven’t seen a shot of what Yankees 3B coach Luis Rojas was doing on that terrible Wells attempt for 3B. Rojas had a bad send of Ben Rice in the 5th inning of WCS Game 2 before the floodgates opened

The Dodgers are the envy of baseball, with superstars throughout their lineup and a rotation of aces. The Braves have several thumpers of their own, a strong defense, and a deep bullpen, not to mention Chris Sale. Is that enough for them to topple the juggernaut? @jakemailhot.com’s NLDS preview:

according to The Athletic, his original contract was to be bench coach thru next year. I imagine they'll mutually agree to some kind of special assistant to the GM (Preston Mattingly) role

I love this big silly team because it always comes down to which will be higher: the number of facepalm-worthy defensive plays by this team or the number of holy-shit towering, dramatic homers?

in Gray's case, some numbers favored him (he was very good third time through the order) and some numbers did not (Yankees had a ton of hard-hit balls off him). The latter was actually not hard to see and I can't blame Tracy for acting on "guy is giving up too much hard contact in a must-win game"

As I pointed out @fangraphs.com, in both the Sonny Gray-Luis García Jr. at-bat (solo HR) and the Erik Miller-Cody Bellinger one (RBI single), the pitcher had gotten great results against LHB with those pitches & , made the hitter chase, but those hitters were also VERY good vs. those pitches in 2026

I'm delighted by the Yankees' 16-hitter wild card roster. If you have enough position players with even one big league quality skill you have to be nuts to take more than 10 or 11 pitchers to a best-of-three series

Everybody Except the Yankees Is Doing Wild Card Roster Construction Wrong
Only Cashman and Boone are bold enough to design a roster fit for a best-of-three series, rather than a best-of-162.

Updated roster news: no Aaron Judge, but the Yankees will carry Giancarlo Stanton and the Red Sox will have Garrett Crochet in their bullpen; neither has played a competitive game — no rehab assignments — since late April.

No. Federal appropriations law has long barred using taxpayer funds for political advertising.

indeed, it's Williams-Sonoma. I did salvage the upper half but I'm content to retire it and see if the similar one I ordered from them (which has a thicker, rounded handle) can fill the void.
