So if you swing like you're cutting down a tree, you're only going to get a hit if you manage to cross the path of the ball where it matches your swing If you have a slight uppercut, you're 'swinging' through the same 'plane' as the ball which increases your chance of making contact

I had someone ask me what is the "swing plane" in baseball so I will subject you to the same horrible drawings they saw Basically, you've got a pitcher and a batter. We used to think of a fastball as being straight but physics does mean that it does have a downward angle
