iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

Sure could be better, but I know there's some method to the madness on Project Aces' part as far as making the lawyers happy. I do hope they fix it though, even if it takes a backseat to gameplay issues, because it is real annoying. Why the hell does it need Anti-cheat too?

I also wonder if I can just delete the main Ace8 game files in the mean time, just keeping the EAC and main executables in-place.

Worst case, I'm hoping that once the pirates get a workaround, I can just slap that executable over top of the legit one.

I just got off the phone with a (my?) cardiothoracic surgeon, so it's absolutely not just you.

I'm sure we could find someone. But yeah, edge case for sure.

Oh for sure. It's just one of those cases that gets stuck in my craw when I come across it.

Minor carve-out when it's something like "Star Blazers" instead of "Space Battleship Yamato" But otherwise, fully agree.

I'm on Shaw/Rogers 🇨🇦. Maybe that's just an indicator that I should audit how much I'm spending on internets lol.

Yeah. I don't know why I'm watching it preload. I can't do anything with it until tomorrow afternoon 😅

I don't even Ridge Race, but they absolutely should. And yeah, they should set it in Strangereal. Just go crazy with it.

That sounds like software to me. Hopefully that's all it is.

Jaskeleton 💀 @jaskel.side6.space · 25/09/2026

Fingies crossed. Maybe also try a Windows System Restore to yesterday and see if the problem resolves itself. It can help if there's a janky software update. Worst-case, a powered USB hub isn't hugely expensive?

I assume it's probably on par with everything else in the franchise, though maybe a little better than 7 with the dev hell.

Can you talk about the Zero port at all? I'd be curious how it feels, especially on PC.

Jaskeleton 💀 @jaskel.side6.space · 25/09/2026

Extra annoying because by all accounts it's a real banger. I wonder if they're still a little worried their silly plane game wouldn't hit the way they'd hoped, even with the big marketing push.

Jaskeleton 💀 @jaskel.side6.space · 25/09/2026

That sucks Lex, I'm sorry. I am looking forward to hopefully hearing your thoughts on it down the road.

If you’re not sure about trying Ace Combat 8, listen to this and then put the game in your shopping cart once you finish running through a wall.

They're rarely direct sequels, so just start with this one (or get 7 on sale for dirt cheap)
