The Knies trade is a very 'vegas' style trade by Chayka. He had a target and didnt get caught up trying to maximise value or get caught up in details like worrying about exact cap numbers and any sort of narrative. Hell, the Leafs just got back from a team bonding trip to Knies' home state.

for me, the main thing about Knies v Marchenko is the timeline. I like knies as a standard for the Mckenna timeline, but does that balance, in a trade, in a Marchenko on a Matthews timeline. You need a future or two for it to work, me thinks
