like it is a dumb retcon. it's silly and makes halo lore nonsense. but people are not refusing to buy halo games because the terminals in halo 3 don't mesh with the events of halo 4. general audiences do not know halo 3 has terminals. general audiences, at this point, have probably not played halo 3

even most of the people yelling about it don't care about it, at this point the forerunner retcon is just a chud shibboleth because it stands in for all the other changes 343/HS made to halo. it's evolved past being a canon complaint to being emblematic of The Glorious Past vs The Degenerate Present

can't remember where i saw the post but it mentioned that nichole basically doesn't see anyone around her as a real person, and i think EJ built on that that by showing how totally dead inside she was pre-transition. nothing mattered except getting on estrogen, so people stopped mattering to her
