@octbrchallenge.bsky.social It's early for my time zone but I know it's October somewhere already! #OcTBRChallenge

A stack of books and a tablet. The tablet has Leviathan Wakes and Crooked Kingdom loaded on it.

The books are, from the bottom up:
* At A Loss for Words
* NO!
* A Paradise Built In Hell

From today's Clues By Sam. lol, sob cluesbysam.com

The C4 tile (column C, row 4) with a painter called Thor wearing a beret and jaunty scarf, holding a palette and a paintbrush.

Text: This year I won't mix up rows and columns!

Yet another New Year's resolution destined to be broken immediately.

Two skeets:

1. (Kingfisher & Wombat) Muahaha! I have navigated Delta's free wi-fi! Now I can shitpost FROM THE SKY!

2. (Orcspiration) YOU ARE A TRUE WARRIOR. I AM PROUD OF YOU.

My feed lined up nicely this morning. Did you coordinate @saskajanet.bsky.social and @socalleslie.bsky.social 😂

Two skeets with pelican images.

Janet Hill's text is "Clear the runway! American White Pelican landing #birds"

SoCal Leslie's text is "Good morning. Brown pelican take off 🪶"

Once again heard peculiar noises and looked up to find the raven #birds 🪶

Looking up (way up) a totem pole with a raven perched on top.
The sky is very blue with fluffy clouds at the bottom and wispy clouds at the top left. There are some leafy trees.

There's an oatmeal cafe that features savoury dishes, including ramen. Still parsing that! oatcouturecafe.com

A wet morning walk today ☔️ and I came across this. Beaver ftw!

A tree stump full of fresh beaver teeth marks. An ineffective guard mesh has been pulled down and circumnavigated. A second tree with a similar guard is on the right. Intact, for now.

Tracks in snow tell interesting stories. I imagine this was a raven, hop, hop, hopping up the roof.

Snow on a roof with a line of prints up to the top. Two feet in parallel framed by wing marks! The tips of four to five feathers.

If you see this pic, post a beach photo from your own gallery... but only if you have one handy, have time and feel like it ;)

A frosty sunny morning along a river. The forefront is a graded trail, frosted bushes frame left and right, then a snowy "beach" and a gently steaming river. The far bank has trees and bushes and hills.

Why is my handle, that I've had from the beginning, suddenly invalid? I'm a bluesky elder!

Waiting for an appointment, look at this vintage set they have for kids!

They're green and brown and adorable.

Mediocre picture of a very fine sun dog.

Rising sun with a lens flare and a sun dog, a faint ring around the sun with rainbow spot at the top and sides. The horizon is shadowed with outlines of buildings, utility & light poles and some trees on the left.

If you see this, you have to post a picture from your device without explaining it.

A fish with its nose just out of the water, causing faint ripples. It is mottled pale yellow, cream, and vivid orange with grey speckles. It has weird fleshy bits over its eyes.

It looks side eyed at the camera, perhaps concerned the photographer might fall in. It is right to be concerned.

Putting new sheets frome Homebird on the bed and spotted this label. THE most useful label ever.

The folded back seam of a white fitted sheet with a label saying LONG SIDE.

Because of reasons, I've just gotten my copy of @tkingfisher.bsky.social's latest. I am SO EXCITED and savouring the moment

A shiny, uncracked Paladin's Faith by T. Kingfisher on a green blanket.
The cover has white text, green and slightly purpley stylized flames and design. In the middle is a hand reaching for a broken sword. Oh, and there are four little skulls with vertebrae and two white rats

Walking through a winter wonderland and heard peculiar noises so I knew a raven was nearby. Then I looked up #birds

A raven at the top of a snowy fir tree. The tree is framed by snow covered branches.

Hoar frost + light snow - wind = some very pretty views!

A trail of footprints in the snow going into a stand of snow covered bushes and trees. They look like they've been sprayed with pure white cotton candy.
The sky is a flat white too.

My first bird of 2024 was a raven. My 2nd, 3rd, 30th(ish) were bohemian waxwings!

I. Have made. Marmalade! Now to listen to the lids pop closed.

Glass jars with silver lids and a large pot on a kitchen table. They are full of orange marmalade. I made sure there are cherries in each jar even though you can't see them.

I got leeks! And I'm making a soup, hmm.

Leeks and carrots steaming in a pan. They are softening but stubbornly not browning yet.

For anyone interested in my curtain saga, it's all good now. Though at first they said they weren't responsible as my instructions weren't clear. My reaction to that was v clear.

Green curtains that are now the same length. On the left is my bike and to the right is a bookshelf of books and knickknacks.

010

Jane The Basic @janethebasic.bsky.social · 15/11/2023

I got some curtains and they were too long, so I had them altered. Look what they did 😫

Two grey curtains hanging in front of a window. The one on the right is several inches shorter than the other. It is too short for the window and daylight is showing through.
