So annoying to have to be so skeptical all the time. I hope you've come out of that ok. I really don't understand the purpose behind those types of scams. What are they trying to achieve?

Glad you got it working again but sounds like a frustrating time. It also highlights the importance of "good" documentation ... I hate the silent fail - no guidance whatsoever. ..

Sometimes we never know enough... at least that's what it feels like. It is hard to decide when is enough. Making no decision, is making a decision when the option expires.

Business rules... I wonder how many people think to train their AI with the business rules. So many of them are in people's heads and not on paper.

Welcome to testing "after" something is built. One of the most frustrating job in the world.

"Are we building the right thing?" is a question as old as engineering itself. GenAI made it easier than ever to skip. Time to start asking again.

Are We Building the Right Thing, or How GenAI Made Us Forget to Ask
I was listening to the A/B Testing podcast the other day, episode 229, where Alan Page had my friend Chris Armstrong on as a guest. At one point they were talking about Verification and Validation. Two concepts that have been around forever. Two simple questions, really. "Are we building the thing right?" That's verification. "Are we building the right thing?" That's validation.

Claudia Badell wrote an article on the Holistic Testing Model- definitely worth a read. qadrive.com/blog/holisti... If this tweaks your interest and you'd like more information, Lisa Crispin and I have a book about it available on LeanPub and Amazon. You can find more on our website agiletester.ca/

Why the story of the viral skateboard-to-car, agile in a nutshell, image needs an unhappy ending... You’ve probably seen Henrik Kniberg's skateboard-to-car sketch a thousand times. But, not with this version of the story behind it... youtu.be/UR4Cq42BtbU #agile #agilesoftwaredevelopment

I ask that often - when I am 'forced' to use a phone app for something. The 1rst time was many years ago in London when the phone app seemed to be the only way to pay for street parking. Someone said to me - if they don't have a phone, they likely don't have a car. Talk about huge assumptions.

For sure I miss friends I made, but I do keep in touch with many through social media and video calls. I haven't completely "retired". But, I no longer teach or consult, or travel to conferences. And that feels right to me.

"Work to live" vs "Live to work". I really don't miss working full time anymore. I am enjoying having time doing my projects without having to fit them into my schedule. But retirement without a plan isn't a good thing.

15 years in QA taught me this: The best testing prevents bugs, not just finds them. Quality isn't a phase - it's a mindset that shapes every step of development.

I'm sad that you don't think a book on testing might help them 🤣 That said in jest, but in truth, they really do need to understand - @lisacrispin.bsky.social and I wrote Agile Testing Condensed and later Holistic Testing to help all roles to understand how testing fits in.

You mean it should be automatic? Yes, I agree and I know many programmers who develop their code that way. Unfortunately, it is not all.
