Here's some photons from the Sun that got reflected from a giant ball of rock just in the right position to eventually end up in my driveway photon trap. This is a "mineral Moon", with more saturated colors showing differences in surface composition. 🔭🧪 #astrophotography
The Moon, almost fully lit. The surface is blueish to reddish gray in exaggerated colors.

This green meteor was captured while taking a time-lapse to document the urbanization around the Skyislands southern in India. The camera was set at 15s exposure for 999 shots and this came into one of those shots.

Here's Jupiter and its satellite Ganymede as I photographed them early this morning with my #Unistellar Odyssey Pro telescope. It's a pretty good capture for this wide-field telescope. #astrophotography
A telescopic image of the planet Jupiter which has a tan colored north and south poles along with whitish and dark brown stripes in its atmosphere which are parallel to its equator. A smudge of light is visible to the right of Jupiter. This is its largest moon.

One of the first things you discover during war is that night comes and goes and then sunrise comes and then day comes - drones or no drones, missiles or no missiles Life goes on War or no war How horrifying How hopeful

An edge-on disk galaxy, observed with the Hubble Space Telescope in the COSMOS survey. It is at redshift 0.35 (lookback time 4.00 billion years) with coordinates (150.34825, 1.94898). 45 volunteers classified this galaxy in Galaxy Zoo: Hubble.

On this rainy night a cometary picture from 2023. Comet ZTF and the star Kochab in Ursa Minor. 🔭 🧪 #astrophotography
The star Kochab above left of centre, with the comet ZTF to its upper right. Many star dots around them.

Yo, check out this pic from NASA's DISCOVR Spacecraft. It's the Moon passing in front of Earth. Looks kinda trippy, like an asteroid's about to crash into us or something.

'... if I could reach the stars ...' #Astrophotography
Camera: Google Pixel 7a
Adjustmemts made by me.

The image depicts a night sky filled with countless stars. The most prominent feature is a band of light stretching across the sky, which is likely the Milky Way galaxy. This cosmic band is characterized by its diffuse, milky appearance and its concentration of stars compared to the surrounding areas. The night sky is mostly dark, with a few brighter stars visible.
In the foreground, there is a power line cutting through the image vertically, creating a contrast between the natural beauty of the night sky and the man-made structure. The power line serves as a reminder of human presence and technology amidst the vastness of the cosmos.

Whilst doing radio astronomy observations with Murriyang last night, I had Seestar also collecting visible wavelength photons from my backyard. The red supergiant star Antares, my fav barred-spiral NGC 1365, and revisited NGC 253 as well as Helix Nebula. #astrophotography 📸
Four tile image. Top left shows a bright red/orange star surrounded by many smaller stars stop right shows a large, barred spiral galaxy that has a central vertical bar and two large hook-like spiral arms. Bottom left shows a narrow, edge on spiral galaxy with intricate dust lanes and bottom right shows a ring nebula that has an outer ring of red gas and an inner region of greenish gas.

Neptune & its moons by JWST, 2022. 🔭 🧪
In this version of Webb’s Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam) image of Neptune, the planet’s visible moons are labeled. Neptune has 14 known satellites, and seven of them are visible in this image.

Triton, the bright spot of light in the upper left of this image, far outshines Neptune because the planet’s atmosphere is darkened by methane absorption wavelengths captured by Webb. Triton reflects an average of 70 percent of the sunlight that hits it. Triton, which orbits Neptune in a backward orbit, is suspected to have originally been a Kuiper belt object that was gravitationally captured by Neptune.
