Reading this caused spontaneous and unexpected eye leakage. (Look I'm tired, OK?).
Extract from BBC report: Responding to Burnham's comments, French President Emmanuel Macron said it would be "very good news" if the UK wanted to rejoin the EU, while Spain's President Pedro Sanchez said his country would welcome Britain back "with open arms".

There seems to be a trend on Instagram of big brands (M&S, Boots etc) posting ads with images of 'must have' items on a stark white background with no indication of context or scale, and I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE. I guess that's deliberate and it's meant to be clickbait? 🤷‍♀️
A pink barrel made from metal or plastic or possibly carved from marble - who knows? It is rounded at one end like a tampon or something designed for insertion. At the opposite end there is a clip or handle. As this is sold by Boots its purpose could be medical, cosmetic, hygiene or entertainment - or all of these.

Well the bad news is we have 60 foot trees on the west side of our lane so can't see the evening sun, the good news is that means you don't need a colander.

The 'private' sign is quite unnecessary. I've read enough M R James; there's no way I'm going through that gate.

I worried probably more than was strictly necessary about this Jersey Tiger moth that flew onto a tube train at Northfields today. How would it find its way home? Should I get off the train and take it back?? (In my defence I had by then been awake for nearly 24 hours and had travelled 4,000 miles).
A jersey tiger moth on the grey metal of a tube train wall. It has black and off-white stripes - more like a zebra than a tiger, to be honest.

FFS what is it with travel firms? First it was Cornish walking holidays in the Canadian Rockies, yesterday it was a mystery tour of York around London, and today it's a UK short break in Germany.

The Stonegate Printer's Devil says hi.
A carved and painted seated demon mounted on an external wall on a street corner. He is painted red with black horns and a chain around his waist to hold him down. He was almost certainly a marker for one of the many print shops that thrived in this area of York in the 18th century.

Same energy.
A woman is wearing a paper hat decorated with a linoprint of four dour kittens wearing red noses and a border saying 'THE KITTENS OF JUDGEMENT'. The factors that came together to result in this photo span nearly 10 years so it's probably best not to ask.

Had a good weekend, and this was the best bit - finally meeting @saskiadanielceramics.com IRL. Also becoming the proud owner of (another) one of her vases, which is what I'm holding in the carrier bag. I love this textured pattern because it reminds me of how I carve foliage in a linoprint.
Two women of mature years stand smiling inside a marquee. In front of them is a stand displaying a marvellous collection of handmade pottery including both plain and striped mugs.A beautiful blue vase with a single large pale pink rose in it. The vase is quite small, fairly rounded, and the rose is absurdly large. The vase is a strong cobalt blue. It has been covered in a random carved texture of small overlapping chips or dents, and the raised lines in between have been highlighted with a black glaze, so the overall impression is rather like snake skin or perhaps the surface of a fruit, or indeed a piece of carved lino that has been inked up.A close up of the texture described in the previous photo.

Back from two weeks in France where I discovered yet another Brexit Benefit - being allowed to pay an extra €10 admission to a visitor attraction (that's nearly 50% more) above that paid by residents of the EEA. And everyone cheered.
Two admission tickets for the Chateau de Chambord, stamped 'PLEIN TARIF HORS EEE'. (Full price excluding European Economic Area). The price shown is €31 - the price for EEA residents was €21).

Oh I was including the surrounding pond thing in my size estimate. I must take some proper measurements next time I'm there and then make an offer. The water pressure might be an issue. I'll have to speak to Yorkshire Water about that.
The same fountain as in the first post, only now you can see more of the enormous round basin that surrounds it. Also the house of Castle Howard in the background - a huge Georgian edifice topped by a dome.
