Response from one of my Plaid MS's.
Firstly, I want to acknowledge the distress, anger and fear that this news has caused you and many others in the trans community. I have heard from a number of constituents about the impact that the suspension of these surgeries is having, particularly for people who have already waited years for treatment and, in some cases, were on the verge of receiving long-awaited care. I understand why this development has been so upsetting. Plaid Cymru stands with trans people. Trans people deserve healthcare, dignity and safety, and above all deserve to be heard, not endlessly scrutinised, debated or treated as a political issue. Trans people’s lives and healthcare are not a political football. I share your concern about the impact this decision is having on patients and recognise the uncertainty it has created. Welsh Government has also expressed concern regarding the situation, especially given the effect on individuals who were expecting to undergo surgery in the near future. I will continue to press for greater clarity around the reasons for the suspension, the process being followed, and a resolution that provides certainty and reassurance for those affected. I understand your frustration regarding the apparent lack of engagement with patients and stakeholders. It is important that any review of healthcare services is conducted transparently and that the experiences and voices of those directly affected are properly considered. I believe that patients deserve clear communication and meaningful involvement when decisions with such significant consequences are being made. I also want to reassure you that, while these surgeries have been temporarily suspended, other elements of the Wales Gender Service continue to operate, including psychological support, endocrine support and hormone therapy. Plaid Cymru remains committed to improving healthcare and outcomes for trans people in Wales, and that commitment has not changed. I recognise that this current situation has badly s…

Kid's birthday - although the furoshiki cloths are a boon to our sensory needs (no loud crinkling and avoiding sellotape shenanigans), it does pose a problem to Nadja who always wants to help open parcels #Caturday. Drat not having opposable thumbs!

Make it make sense? "Energy-hungry data centres can cut bills"! From octopus.energy/blog/ETS-202...
3pm
Nicki (Live Blog Alchemist)

Claire Coutinho speech
Claire Coutinho, shadow energy secretary, just laid out a bold vision where artificial intelligence and energy policy are deeply intertwined. Arguing that "Electricity prices are too high, our system is too slow, and we are simply not acting with the urgency at this moment", she said that leaning into the tech boom is actually the key to fixing our grid woes.

"If we want to make electricity cheap, then we need AI to succeed, so those energy-hungry data centres can cut bills for every household and every business in this country," she explained, noting that "The single best thing the government can do for data sovereignty is to make it economically viable to build data centres in Britain".

She added: "The question is not whether AI happens – it will happen – the question is whether it happens here with British innovation, British energy, British data, and then economic growth."

PS: I've got a chair now. Don't panic, Greg.

Good afternoon, I'm looking for some recommendations on cool places to visit in Perthshire/Stirling. I visited the Crannog Centre yesterday (woven house had perfect coolness inside plus air conditioned small museum), followed by a loch dip.

Not England, but Devil's Bridge is stunning and outside of school holidays very quiet. It's possible to spend a couple of hours on the picturesque Hafod Estate and not see a soul.

For those opening their Hotel Chocolat advent calendars, be advised some have been put in boxes the wrong way. I opened the window to Day 1 and no choc 😢. Turning the tray the right way round means I have lots of lovely vegan choc (honestly the panic after counting the gaps rather than the chocs 😅)

Adventures in wild swimming #Llangollen - this time last week.
