Oh My Posh is now part of Project Zenith, the new ready-to-code Windows experience for developers. A beautiful terminal, right out of the box.

I’ll do it as soon as I’m back from my holidays. Currently enjoying thunderstorms in Italy.

I have an auto-reject set up for theme additions. If you add a comment to the PR I can reopen and accept. This is a very legit use-case.

This is interesting, is there anything in terms of functionality in oh-my-posh that could make it more accessible out of the box?

What's new: a live Studio editor linked to the Configurator, native git status for a much faster prompt, a background daemon for instant renders, and a binary trimmed by ~30%. Faster and lighter, across the board.

Studio, Native Git, and a Leaner Binary | Oh My Posh
Studio now hands off to the Configurator, git status runs natively for a 10x speedup, and steady dependency cuts shrank the binary by nearly a third.

Nope, this is a PowerShell UTF8 bug. I have the exact same as oh-my-posh isn’t able to patch that use-case. The only solution is to force your entire session to UTF8.

Correct, only that we dropped the MSI installer and only keep the MSIX. Winget has a hard time deciding what to do when the installer file changes, the easiest solution is to uninstall and reinstall. This has no side effects, it only replaces the @ohmyposh.dev executable.

Seems like the merge failed due to a GitHub issue. Let’s see if they can get this resolved.

Highly likely. I’ll check what’s going on there. Thanks for the ping. That got buried in my notifications.

Drove this puppy all the way to the south of France last week with zero issues. Usually my kids and spouse get carsick after a while but nothing this time. They opposed getting a Tesla due to obvious reasons, but there’s no denying this is a really great car.

You might not know oh-my-posh has an MCP server because I never told anyone before due to playing with the possibilities, but thinking about it, a skill that leverages it to create valid configurations based on a conversation would make a lot of sense.

A new terminal segment just landed. Upgrade to v28.1.0 to monitor your GitHub Copilot request usage directly from the command line — inspired by @eliostruyf.com ‘s Copilot Usage Tracker. Prefer tracking usage anywhere? Pair it with Elio’s tracker for the complete experience.

Open source didn’t hand me car keys. But building in public taught me to code, communicate, take feedback & grow. Habits → skills → opportunities → career. And that career? It bought the car. Open source unlocked the path to earn it.

I completely understand how you feel and this is a challenge for a lot of developers around the world at the moment. Expecting all these efficiency gains without of the box AI tools without investing in the people is setting this evolution up for failure.

My advice? Do not oppose this evolution but learn how to use it reliably. If you know about worktrees, I’m sure you know about engineering excellence as well. Leveraging AI effectively needs people like you teaching these habits to others, and AI can be your best buddy in achieving these results.

I’m considering moving Oh My Posh’ MIT-license to a dual-license model: • MIT remains for open source, personal, and academic use • Companies using it to build commercial or closed-source products would need a subscription Good idea or bad idea?
