Got a request to do a book’s layout but the person used AI to help with research, for “rigor and consistency in later drafts” & as a “copyediting aid” but that the book itself is their “own work”. Sigh. No it’s not. You had a bot hold your hand, using all the stolen work it was built from. No.

Six months ago, I would have been delighted by this. Now, with my back aching and what feels like an endless queue of items to process before my workday can end, it's just annoying.

Like any Nishikawa fan, I'd always been delighted by Alex's—or rather Jason's, as I'd thought of him back then—tales of Nishikawa alarming the neighbors by practicing with various weapons in the yard for all to see. But now I have a headache, too much work and a baby with a talent for finding my bladder, and my sympathies lie with his neighbors—my neighbors, as it turns out.
