I’ve officially hit grumpy mid life lady — sent a strongly worded email to LBCC construction manager about the lack of warning that digging started this week & this lady responded “the presentation in December” said it was starting summer 2026. Like WUT?? That was 6+ mos ago!

Reason 1000+ I love Southern California: spending an hour sitting in tiny folding chairs with a bunch of parents in a stinky martial arts gym is my absolute nightmare. Here I can sit outside and enjoy the marine layer while I read my book or needlepoint.

there is infinite money for weapons, non-educator vice chancellors of nothingness, and tech-grift corporate welfare but zero money for teachers, libraries, tuition

Two big conferences in the past month means I would sincerely like to nap for the next two weeks. I have 2 weeks until I’m 40, couldn’t this level of tired wait for me to officially be over the hill?

We took Title IX away from little girls today and nearly took birthright citizenship too, and our leaders are calling it a victory. I wish the US Senate could show up with even 1/100 the energy of the average public school mom in Minnesota.

Can I ask what platform you use? I’m interested in this use case for AI - I also wonder about have it be an integrator reliability measure in a way, but I worry that’s a slippery slope.

Reading some things, and I can’t help but wonder how the shrinking availability of grants, increased need for funding given economic shifts, and NSF promotion of AI is exacerbating the usual cycle of overly optimistic jumping onto the bandwagon of new tech with ill-conceived ideas?

If I want to buy my first 3D printer, to be used by me for random crafting & organizing purposes & for my 9yo who is alllllll about engineering stuff….what is my best bet? Thinking Bambu but do I go P2S or X2D? This would be my 40th birthday present to myself 😁

Have tried to disconnect my work from my identity in small ways, like using my real name instead of my old ‘dontworryteach’ handle…but I’m pretty sure I couldn’t tell you the real names of like 90% of people from OG teacher twitter in the 2010s so I dunno why I expect anyone to know mine 😅

Every time social studies & science get cut for more ELA & math blocks I want to scream — kids need background knowledge context to build schema & conceptual understanding!! The more we isolate the disciplines in elementary the worse chance our kids have 😩

Was not prepared for the number of students who cry in my office as a professor. Not in a grade grubbing way, but just in a life is hard way. And being the professor who is understanding & open with my own mental health & disabilities means I think I get more of it than the avg? I am Le tired.

I think the problem with higher education is the fact that universities are being run like corporations, with all the shite that comes along with it, without the actual manpower or higher pay that make corporate work tolerable.

Every safety regulation was written in blood, frequently with a body count higher than one, and it’s not political to put the blame on people who want to “move fast and break things” when they start breaking human lives.

As an alumnae sorority volunteer, learning scientist, and teacher educator, I really appreciate the metaphor of continuing to engage in practices that make students fail over and over again just because we experienced it and survived; it is not rigor but rather hazing.
