Responding to tech recruiters with the same verbiage they use to reject candidates is quite satisfying.
An email to a tech recruiter. It reads:

Hi [recruiter name],

Thank you for the opportunity to meet with the team. Unfortunately, due to the number of interview processes I'm currently involved in, I need to narrow it down to companies that most closely match what I'm looking for, so I will not be moving forward with [company name]. Again, thank you for your time and I wish you luck in finding your next infrastructure engineer.

More fun with the code-review bot at work
Excerpt of a GitHub comment from me in response to a code review bot:

Back in the day, I had a dog named Peanut. When I would take him for a walk, he would alert on things like plastic shopping bags blowing in the wind in the distance — it was downtown Baltimore, so there was a lot of that. Then when we got closer, he would realize it wasn't another dog and would just go back to walking normally as if he hadn't just been absolutely losing his mind over it.

The issues this bot calls out as "critical" and "important" here are plastic bags blowing in the wind.

The test suite is all just barfed into one huge file and it's not easy to navigate. So when I got a couple PRs on it over the past few days, I was like …
a silhouette of a person thinking "dude i am so sorry. this project is a mess and the test suite is the worst." And the words they say are simply "cool, thanks!"

Just had this realization over the past couple days
The "Mr. Incredible" meme. The lefthand side shows Mr. Incredible looking happy and the caption is "Someone's using an OSS project I made". The righthand side shows Mr. Incredible looking dark and a lot less happy with the same caption.

I haven't been able to get it to produce a null in the array at all. If the JSONPath doesn't match anything, it returns an empty array. Also, a double is neither null nor an integer.
Screenshot from the Redis CLI.

127.0.0.1:6379> json.numincrby order:123 .line_items.*.quantity 1
1) (integer) 3
2) (double) 3.1

One of my pet peeves about Redis is that the documentation is often aspirational. And by that I mean it would be great if it worked that way but it doesn't. For example, the `JSON.NUMINCRBY` command says it returns a string or an array containing ints/nulls […] [Original post on zomglol.wtf]
Screenshot from the Redis documentation. It reads:

Return information. RESP3.

With $-based path argument (default): Array reply of integer replies or null replies, where each element is the new value, or null if the matching value is not a number, or simple error reply on error.

With .-based path argument: Bulk string reply representing the stringified new value, null reply if the matching value is not a number, or simple error reply on error.

The AI code-review bot my company uses just wasted 2 hours of my time. It reported a bug in cache logic in a PR. I didn't change caching, but it's a Rails app so unexpected invalidations and indeterminate staleness can both happen. Report said it doesn't […] [Original post on zomglol.wtf]

@woe2you @LillyHerself I hate everything about this. It's perfect. This was a really nice touch.

I just remembered this email I got from Reddit. I was living in Australia when signed up on Reddit, so they wanted to let me know that if I'm under 16 I won't be able to use Reddit anymore. The funniest part about it is that, not only have I not even set foot in […] [Original post on zomglol.wtf]

We're writing to let you know that starting 10 December 2025,
Australian law will require that redditors in Australia must be 16
or older to create and use Reddit accounts.
Users confirmed to be under 16 will have their accounts
suspended under the new Australian minimum age law. While
we disagree with the Government's assessment of Reddit as
being within the scope of the law, we need to take steps to
comply. This means anyone in Australia with a Reddit account
confirmed to be under 16 will be blocked from accessing their
account or creating a new one. Note that as an open platform,
Reddit is still available to browse without an account.

A chatbot getting co-author credit on a commit but not the person that actually wrote the patch is a bit on-the-nose, isn't it?
Screenshot from the GitHub pull request UI. A review from jgaskins shows a comment with a suggested patch and a blurb explaining the patch. The contents of both are redacted for intellectual-property reasons. There is an "Apply suggestion" button at the bottom of the suggested patch.

Below the review is a commit from the pull request author that applies that exact change. There is a "Co-authored-by" trailer in the commit message that credits the Cursor agent.

Kinda weird for your operating system to prompt you to upgrade to the version it's already running
Screenshot of the macOS update notification. It reads:

There are two buttons. One says "Install tonight" and the other says "Remind me later".

This is exciting news for adversaries
Screenshot of an email. It contains the Cursor logo and then the following text.

Hi Jamie,

Cursor Security Review is available in beta. You can run two types of always-on security agents: Security Reviewer and Vulnerability Scanner.

1. Security Reviewer checks every PR and leaves inline comments with severity and remediation.
2. Vulnerability Scanner runs scheduled scans of your codebase and sends updates of its findings in Slack.

@oantolin @Migueldeicaza Regional slang is always so fun because it seems perfectly reasonable when you've been around it but it sounds absolutely unhinged when you haven't. They *technically* speak English in Australia, but when I moved there I was like …

I don't think I ever saw Safari using so much CPU before macOS 26. None of these tabs are selected. Apple mentioned at WWDC several years ago that Safari aggressively throttles the event loop in background tabs, so they *should* all be using < 1% CPU. No wonder […] [Original post on zomglol.wtf]
