James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I really love Hummingbird Salamander, I’d bet its tanking was due to nothing but pandemic release timing! 170
James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 25/08/2026Looking forward to reading the finished anthology! 020
James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 17/08/2026Ooh, awesome! Authority really opened up for me on second read. 011
James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 13/07/2026Totally agreed! Same with his role in The Piano—Harvey Keitel has the meatier, sexier role, and Neill's character is often petty and pitiful, but you can tell he believes in the project and he gives a hundred percent to every scene. So inspiring. 140
James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 02/07/2026Totally agree! I also think it's wild that the generally accepted understanding of Seasonal Affective Disorder seems to only apply to winter? I'm here to tell ya, I've been doubly depressed in the summertime every year of my life. 071
James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 26/06/2026Resurrection is SO great! And it goes without saying that Rebecca Hall was amazing in it 130
James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 18/06/2026Alright, just broke 30K on this novel WIP! Feels kinda strange to take ~3 weeks to write 8K words, but this process seems to have a rhythm of its own, and the going is steady even if slower than I'd hoped. Really proud of the work I've done so far! Writing is hard work, but can also be damn fun 🤓 020

James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 29/05/2026I think he's just great in everything I see him in! When I was in college, I saw him at a diner in NYC, eating alone at a booth a few down from mine. He seemed so sad that day. I'd just seen him in Requiem for a Dream so it was especially memorable. 030
James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 29/05/2026Just reached 22K on my new novel WIP. I'm always amazed at our brains' ability to come up with story, and damn is it just plain fun to dig into a big project like this. 120
James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 28/05/2026Man I need that AI bubble to burst like yesterday. I’m so unbelievably sick of having to deal with it and hear about it. And now it keeps cropping up in my real life. It’s like the goddamn Bodysnatchers. 020

James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 22/05/2026If this ever comes to an end I might have to write up a thread with all the details. For now, I'll just say it's been a real doozy. 020
James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 22/05/2026Last December, somebody ran a stop sign and smashed into my car. Fortunately nobody was hurt, but since then I've been locked in a 6+ month battle with insurance companies, car repair shop, and rental place. My faith in the goodness of humanity was already struggling but now it's at an all-time low. 220
James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 05/05/2026Thank god someone finally said this! (But then again I tend to find most of Nolan's work dull lol) 000

James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 19/04/2026Do you think everybody onstage with Nine Inch Noize has really weird dreams after doing that show? 010
James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 17/04/2026So hot! We saw NIN last year and were completely blown away. Trent still being this awesome at 60 makes me feel a little less anxious about turning 40 this year 🤣 110
James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 03/04/2026...even when the community surrounding those things doesn't always love us back. Reminds me of that line from Adaptation: "You are what you love, not what loves you." When you gather enough underdog outcasts together, we can become a community of our own. Congratulations on the story, Ace! 2/2 010

James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 15/03/2026I don’t personally put much stock in awards shows, but I’m baffled it didn’t receive any Oscar nominations. Why wouldn’t Hollywood want to celebrate a piece of work like that? 010
James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 15/03/2026Wow—I was completely unprepared for The Testament of Ann Lee. I thought it was absolutely fantastic. The singing, the dancing, the true Dionysian ecstasy. Just unreal work all around. 101
James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 08/03/2026Really, really enjoyed Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride! Jessie Buckley is volcanic as always, and Christian Bale shows a sweet, tender, conflicted Frank. Impressive across the board, and I’m usually pretty lukewarm on Bale. May Maggie Gyllenhaal live long and make many more strange, singular movies. 020
James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 06/03/2026Yeah, nothing exists for me after the original S3 finale. It felt tragically cut short at the time but that final shot with “It Never Rains in Southern California” playing was perfect. Wishing for more show after that, we had no idea how bad it could get! 010

James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 22/01/2026Thanks so much for sharing this. I’ve been beating myself up for not being more productive lately, so it’s nice to know I’m not the only one! 160
James Parenti @jamesparenti.bsky.social · 16/01/2026As someone who’s moved to Philly in the last few years, I’d like to add that the local population’s enthusiasm for fireworks cannot be overstated.
