Here's my review of Coyote vs. Acme. I would've had it out sooner, but (a) it wasn't released down here in Australia until Sep 18, and (b) shortly after I saw it the first time I was scheduled to go a week-long holiday with my family. So the fact that I've seen it twice... yeah, I really liked it.

Yes, this is a large part of it. I have not looked him up on Twitter like I once did, but particularly in Trump's first term, Jim was really vocal and aggressive about his beliefs on social media. (More in next post.)

Now, is this movie BETTER than last year's masterpiece: Day the Earth Blew Up? No. However, as a lifelong LT fan, I will say that Coyote vs. Acme is the SECOND BEST Looney Tunes movie (after DTEBU) AND is the BEST animated/live-action Looney Tunes hybrid movies (not counting Roger Rabbit).

This hurts Aussies and Kiwis more than anywhere else because Disney decided to end physical media releases for all brands in Australia and New Zealand following Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. I guess it is true; nothing will ever replace a good Disney DVD or Disney Blu-ray.

Old Movie Twitter was, if I had to estimate, 60-70% conservative and I would say that reflects the old movie fandom in the USA generally. So things skew a certain kind of way. Silent movies seem to be careening left after decades of being strongly right.

The other issue is that a hand-wavey "all old movies are sexist/racist, etc" erases a lot of talent AND erases the line between, say, a bad throwaway gag in one scene and BIRTH OF A NATION. This is all on a spectrum and there are a lot of people muddying the waters.
