I do find it fascinating, and somewhat astonishing, that in the present circumstances, hundreds of thousands of Canadians who are striving to "buy Canadian" in other respects insist on continuing to be deeply invested personally in American sports leagues overflowing with stars, stripes and MAGA.

You may have noticed that the Canadian Football League is the only major sports league in North America giving league-wide recognition to truth and reconciliation. That's what having a big league of our own means. Among other things.

Many survivors have described sport as their main or only positive memory at these schools, and some continued to promote and cultivate these sports in their own communities, making them their own or seeing them as useful vehicles for interacting positively with Euro-Canadians.

There is great potential for historians of Canadian sport to make meaningful contributions to Truth and Reconciliation. Sport was deeply embedded in the routines of many residential schools, where it exerted assimilative power and yet also provided a channel for children to express a group identity.

Today, we remember the parents, children, siblings and elders tragically lost to the horrendous acts of cultural genocide committed in government-sanctioned residential schools. May we all walk the path to reconciliation together with a commitment to respect and healing.

Lynch is my favourite golf media figure by miles, but I completely disagree here. The US winning every time is an incredibly blunt instrument of assessment. There are always compelling elements and dramas along the way. The fabric of international sport is woven from more than outcomes.

I hope this kind of thing is winning over waves of new fans. Personally I deeply dislike it (for ordinary league games against ordinary opponents).

Chad Kelly's 2 touchdown passes this evening in Winnipeg gave him 68 in his Argonaut career and moved him past Tobin Rote into sixth place in club history. It's possible, but unlikely, that he will catch Damon Allen before the season ends. (At which point he presumably heads to Ottawa.)

For 🇨🇦Conners and 🇨🇦Taylor to take down Scheffler and MAGA Burns - when they were both teased about Lake Ontario by the press - in today's foursomes must have felt very sweet. Especially when Canadians have historically been iffy in the Presidents Cup. Well done chaps!

If a 'potential' #CFL fan only sees one play and it's only because the play went viral then perhaps that person is not really a 'potential' CFL fan Also, stop using the term 'dribble' for the onside punt. A dribbled ball is totally different & has its own set of rules www.tsn.ca/cfl/video/20...

TSN CFL Insiders Farhan Lalji and Dave Naylor share their thoughts on some changes that could be coming next season, including what might happen to the dribble punt, the utilization of the two-point shootout for tiebreaks and what the new playoff format would have looked like if it was implemented this season.

From farmers to teachers to small businesses, everyone's trying to get by with less. Meanwhile this government does favours for their biggest donors, paid for by us. We deserve a government that works for the many, not the money.

The 2012 "Miracle at Medinah" Ryder Cup is one of the most notable moments in golf; and some of the most notable moments happened on the 17th hole. It's almost unfathomable that Medinah would destroy that hole in renovations, but it did.

The Canadian Football League, in keeping with its status and heritage as Canada's leading professional sports league, has made a real effort to engage closely with Indigenous communities. Here, Don Landry delves into the example of adopting alternative logos by Indigenous artists.

I don't understand how JJ Spaun is playing at Wentworth. He is not a member of the DP World Tour, as far as I know. It's got to be hard to take for members when guys who aren't eligible just turn up anyway and take a big chunk of what little money is there to be won.

NFL scouts on US college campuses in the Fifties, when Canadian pro teams were offering competitive salaries, used to spin similar threads of deceit about playing football in Canada. The NFL even employed a liar-in-chief in 1954 and 1955.

The Celtic program at Edinburgh was the first to treat Scottish Gaelic, the foundational tongue of the Scottish nation, as a language deserving of dignity, respect and academic evaluation. Its graduates are enriching and strengthening the language, its culture and its future. This is an abomination.

This is an area of law that needs review. There is no justice in a community being forced to give up the name "Lumber Kings" after 65 years because of an ownership dispute. A sports team name is not just another trademark, and that should be understood.
