Sitting in a theater for FOUR HOURS to watch the new Elon Musk documentary is one of the circles of hell. I *might* stream it at 2x in fits and starts, though while I work on something, though. It will still be unsufferable.

Amused that the Library took the colon out of the exhibit title I requested. Just heard today that titles with colons are a signifier of AI text. This is wiping out in one fell swoop an academic and cultural standard format for events. I gave them permission to edit my copy in any way they saw fit.

I don't understand why cis women are so afraid of trans women. Both groups should support each other as we both are way more likely to suffer violence at the hands of straight males. Trans women *might* steal your makeup, clothes, and maybe even your man. Like a college roommate.

There is a call for art for two original pieces for a college's auditorium. The obvious choice, per her subject matter, is Michiko Itatani, whose work I love. The budget is too low for two of her pieces, though, so I might have a chance.

"Scroll of Babel", from the Library of Babel series, stained glass, glass paint, on a cylinder vase. 32"x 7" x 7". I will show this piece at Julie Mars: Visions in Glass at the Harold Washington Library starting this October.
32" tall cylinder vase featuring a groutless mosaic of stained glass hexagons. The hexagon tiles are vellum colored at the bottom with characters from world alphabets inscribed on them. As the design spirals upward the vellum-colored tiles transform into hexagonal circuit board tiles.

Winter Garden Diptych, 2026, stained glass, woven and loose bead mosaic on preowned frames. These will be on display at Harold Washington Library in Chicago starting in October 2026. I just entered them into the Tiffany glass show at EAC, as well.
Set of two floral stained glass mosaic panels with champagne-colored beaux arts acanthus frames. The diptych is installed on a beige wall above cream wainscoting. The mosaic also has woven copper bead hexagon flower accents contrasting with the verdigris, cream, & brown glass color palette. The work is an homage to the Harold Washington Library's Winter Garden and the Beaux Arts imagery on the verdigris roof.

"This Circular Book is God", 2026, stained glass, circuit board, hexagonal beadweavings on a used mirror. From the Library of Babel series. This piece will be on display at the Harold Washington Library in the show Julie Mars: Visions in Glass starting Oct. 11.
40" round mirror with a layered mosaic of stained glass, hexagonal beadweaving tiles, and circuit board in the rich colors of an antique library. The Library of Babel is a short story by Jorge Luis Borges wherein the denizens of an absurd and possibly infinite library attempt to create meaning in their lives with scholarly lore, religiosity & rumor.

yeah nobody's really helped me figure out if the smaller dimensions of these out-of-focus Richter photos were related to the focal length of the blur, but it's fine; turns out Richter took the blurred photo in 1990, when he made the painting, and he was taking lots of out-of-focus photos back then

Italian police recover paintings by Cézanne, Renoir and Matisse after heist
Artworks valued at total of more than $10m were stolen from Magnani Rocca Foundation near Parma in March Italian police have recovered three paintings by the French masters Paul Cézanne, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Henri Matisse that were stolen earlier this year from a private museum near the northern city of Parma, authorities said on Friday. The raid took place overnight on 22-23 March at the Magnani Rocca Foundation, about 12 miles (19km) from Parma, after a series of high-profile thefts from other European museums. Continue reading...

In the summer of 2013, two esoteric, technical, incredibly important texts were published within weeks of one another: the first is the Snowden leaks, which revealed a system of global, pervasive digital surveillance. 1/
"Eugène Delacroix's painting 'La Liberté guidant le peuple' ('Liberty Leading the People'), depicting the French revolution as a ragtag group of peasants led by a flag-waving, bare-breasted incarnation of 'Liberty.' The painting has been altered: the scene is now being observed with a giant, smoke-shrouded CCTV dome, and the distant building have been replaced with a mainframe computer.
