I've been packing my show for the Harold Washington Library and trying to finish the Crimson Hexagon. I'm waiting for news on some other things I applied for. I also have two people who want this or want a version of this:

"Scroll of Babel", from the Library of Babel series, stained glass, glass paint, on a cylinder vase. 32"x 7" x 7". I will show this piece at Julie Mars: Visions in Glass at the Harold Washington Library starting this October.
32" tall cylinder vase featuring a groutless mosaic of stained glass hexagons. The hexagon tiles are vellum colored at the bottom with characters from world alphabets inscribed on them. As the design spirals upward the vellum-colored tiles transform into hexagonal circuit board tiles.

Winter Garden Diptych, 2026, stained glass, woven and loose bead mosaic on preowned frames. These will be on display at Harold Washington Library in Chicago starting in October 2026. I just entered them into the Tiffany glass show at EAC, as well.
Set of two floral stained glass mosaic panels with champagne-colored beaux arts acanthus frames. The diptych is installed on a beige wall above cream wainscoting. The mosaic also has woven copper bead hexagon flower accents contrasting with the verdigris, cream, & brown glass color palette. The work is an homage to the Harold Washington Library's Winter Garden and the Beaux Arts imagery on the verdigris roof.

"This Circular Book is God", 2026, stained glass, circuit board, hexagonal beadweavings on a used mirror. From the Library of Babel series. This piece will be on display at the Harold Washington Library in the show Julie Mars: Visions in Glass starting Oct. 11.
40" round mirror with a layered mosaic of stained glass, hexagonal beadweaving tiles, and circuit board in the rich colors of an antique library. The Library of Babel is a short story by Jorge Luis Borges wherein the denizens of an absurd and possibly infinite library attempt to create meaning in their lives with scholarly lore, religiosity & rumor.

Possible pattern for the staircases. I’m going for an Escher type feel with spiral staircases. Ignore the art underneath. That is going away.

Today’s ArtDrop is a baked clay prehistoric mother goddess sculpture, Seated Woman of Çatalhöyük, created circa 6000 BC.

Today’s ArtDrop is a Roman marble copy c. 130 AD of a Greek bronze sculpture c. 350 BC known as “Leaning (or Resting) Satyr” attributed to the sculptor Praxiteles.
The image shows a classical white marble figurative sculpture of a youthful faun or satyr. The creature has all of his weight on one leg and a bent second leg allowing for an elegant and natural S-curve in the figure. The satyr is nude except for the skin of a panther draped across his torso with the head dangling over the right shoulder and onto the chest. He holds a pipe in his right hand. That arm is supported by a part of the tree trunk that he’s lounging against. The other hand rests languidly on his left hip.

Today’s ArtDrop is a suprematist painting circa 1920 by Kazimir Malevich. “Mystic Suprematism” is an oil on canvas.
The image shows a simple geometric painting of balanced shapes. A black circle hangs just offset to the right in the upper part of the work. Layered over the circle is a large red cross extending through most of the piece on a slight angle. A few more red rectangles and strips balance the black circle at the bottom. The background is a textured cream color.

Today’s ArtDrop is an oil and acrylic painting “Forces of Change” from the Great Lakes Cycle series by Alexis Rockman. This piece is from 2017.
The large artwork gives visitors a view above and beneath waters of the Great Lakes. Here, the artist is showing how decaying industry, pollution, invasive species, and microbial overgrowth endanger the health of the Great Lakes habitat. Amusingly, there is an invasive kaiju-like “E coli monster” burrowed into the lake bed with extended tentacles guiding snacks to its toothy maw.

Today’s ArtDrop is the ‘Haymarket Martyrs Memorial’ sculpted by Albert Weinert. It is a national historic monument in Forest Park Cemetery in Illinois commemorating a labor protest for workers’ rights that ended with a bombing & rush to execute several protestors as a deterrent to further activism.
The photo shows a bronze figurative sculpture of a draped and hooded woman with rolled-up sleeves defiantly protecting the body of a fallen male laborer. The figures are installed in front of a roughly obelisk-shaped stone with an ornate capstone. The base of the obelisk steps up from the ground to the figure. Underneath the figure is the year 1887 in raised text. Beneath the 1887 rests an arrangement of bronze palm fronds. A visitor has tucked some pink flowers into the fronds. The bottom level of the base has a raised inscription that reads “THE DAY WILL COME WHEN OUR SILENCE WILL BE MORE POWERFUL THAN THE VOICES YOU ARE THROTTLING TODAY."

Today’s ArtDrop is a Florentine Renaissance oil on panel “Venus and Mars” circa 1485 by Sandro Botticelli.
The image is a long horizontal panel of the god and goddess reclining in a forest. Venus in a diaphanous gown looks at mostly naked Mars who is dead asleep. He might be exhausted after enjoying Venus’ charms. She seems calmly disappointed by his lack of attention. Four mischievous child fauns are playing with Mars’ helmet and lance. One of them is about to startle Mars awake by blowing a horn in his ear.

Today’s ArtDrop is a black and white selfie from 1927 by surrealist photographer Claude Cahun.
The image is mostly dark. Highlighted from the background is the artist’s face. They have sculpted their hairline into a gothic bat-like line. Their arms and hands are posed in an angular fashion framing a mirrored sphere. The box camera can be seen in the mirror set up in front of a window that is the only light source. At the bottom of the photograph, the highlights of the composition are repeated by a glimpse of silky fabric glimmering in the light.

Today’s ArtDrop is an International Gothic painting from 1434-45 by Bernat Martorell of ‘Saint George and the Dragon.’
Crouched in the lower right of this image is a detailed painting of a vicious dragon with tongue and teeth snarling out of its snout. It has splayed bat-like wings and claws aimed at its attacker. Behind the dragon, its tail snakes toward its cave lair. Above the dragon riding a beautiful white horse with gilt saddle and harness is the dashing Saint George. He wears full armor with a white long cape emblazoned with a cross emblem that flutters behind him, as he raises his long spear to dispatch the menacing beast below him. Standing above the dragon’s lair is a chaste and fair princess in rich pink robes praying devoutly. In the background at the top of this vertical painting is a town with a stone fortress. From its walls can be seen crowds of onlookers watching the event below.
