I frequently see "AI" boosters implying that LLMs are simply an innate and superior part of coding now, inescapable, and that literally all programmers agree with them. And, well. That, too, is a form of propaganda

Looking at my software peers in 2026 I see fatigued faces, I see frustration, and I see a lot of people looking for a way out of an industry that seems poised on the brink of collapse. LLMs are being pushed on us at every turn, most people seem at best frustrated by them, and ultimately they seem to appeal most to people who see the production of software as a purely mechanical means to an end. They are antithetical, however, to the idea of software as a craft, or something requiring both initial and ongoing care. As an expression of the soul.

Prattle's old-style chompers that barely read in any scenario. She IS clenching those pearly yellows but you can barely tell because they have no contrast against each other or against her face

me: he's using ai for the updates?

him: Not just AI. I'm using a bunch of tools, including Ghidra and monitoring the DuckStation disassembly and memory in real-time.
Local LLM's work pretty well once you take them up as well, but it does make my GPU work really hard.

me: that is so disappointing

him: Not really. I spent about a week updating the game. It would have taken several weeks if I did everything manually. This is the way computing and programming is moving in the industry. You either get on board with it or you fall behind. It was a great way to practise utilising it in the toolchain.
