The solidarity of news organizations in support of CNN, MS NOW & Politico has been encouraging. But how about that same solidarity when Trump abuses a journalist with comments of piggie or ugly or whatever? That means sticking up for your peers & even walking out if this abuser refuses to apologize.

RIP to Chris Christie’s 2028 campaign, murdered by an octogenarian mere hours after launch
Joyce Carol Oates • @JoyceCarolOates
really, this is a serious question: why on earth would Chris Christie imagine that anyone, anywhere, ever would want him to run for President? what sparks such a delusion? granted, his wife might enjoy having him out of the house & on the campaign trail; but better just get an inexpensive hobby instead.

The datestamps “evidence that it was an inside leaker and not Russian hackers” theory is especially ridiculous if you know that file metadata is trivially altered. There’s a UNIX command “touch” that alters the different timestamps in a file that you usually learn pretty early in learning Linux.

Jake Hamby @jakehamby.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
So that whole avenue is absurd on its face, but there are a few ex-CIA people who bought into the timestamps theory that it wasn’t Russian hackers at the DNC. No one ever seems to have an alternate conspiracy for who hacked John Podesta’s Gmail, or even want to mention him. No, “the DNC server!”
150
Jake Hamby @jakehamby.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
That theory is based on the timestamps in the leaked DNC emails, as seen on the Wikileaks site, claiming that they had to have copied the emails to a USB drive because if they copied them over the Internet, it would take longer to download them. Did they not know about the concept of a .zip file?

Jake Hamby @jakehamby.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
There’s a conspiracy theory Corn doesn’t go into, since the book is long enough already and it may be covered in his earlier book, that Seth Rich, the young DNC staffer who was tragically gunned down in DC on his way home in an apparent mugging gone wrong, was killed by Hillary for leaking them.

Apparently from the beginning of his first term, no one could ever bring up Russian election interference around Trump because he’d go ballistic; he got really angry and apparently because he refused to concede that he had won the election with the help of an enemy of the USA and not “by himself”.

Trump is super insecure about being a know-nothing dolt, and when he talks to every other world leader, they have stuff they actually want to negotiate and he’d have to think about stuff and he doesn’t want to think. Putin, Xi, Kim, Orban: Trump openly admires gangster strongmen. He’s a mob boss.

Jake Hamby @jakehamby.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
There was/is a whole distasteful line of jokes starting from the first term about Trump and Putin and gay sex, or that Trump is being controlled by blackmail, and while I’m sure Putin has dirt galore on Trump from his multiple Moscow visits, it’s obvious Putin is controlling him by simple flattery.
1111
Jake Hamby @jakehamby.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
We really downplay how damaging the unsubstantiated rumors about the “pee tape” from the Steele dossier distracted from the actual corruption and Putin doing all those gray zone active measures social media trolling plus the Podesta phishing attack and the DNC server hack with Clinton’s emails.

Trump is yelling to his aides, “I don’t want to have any fucking thing to do with Ukraine. They fucking attacked me. They tried to take me down.” and then he added “I want the fucking DNC server.” The DNC sent hard drive images of their infected servers, and apparently they were mostly cloud VMs?

Jake Hamby @jakehamby.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
I’m getting to the “perfect phone call” with newly elected President Zelenskyy, where Trump threatens not to send him military aid to defend against Putin unless he investigates Hunter Biden and Burisma, which of course he has no idea about since he’s just been elected and it’s a made-up scandal.

The new book How Russia Won by David Corn is a trip down memory lane so far about Trump’s first term and aspects I’d forgotten, like how Trump and Giuliani were totally convinced that Ukraine, not Russia, had interfered in the election and then stolen “the” DNC server and taken it back to Ukraine.

The 1966 ed. of The Meat We Eat says that meat is a “virile and protective food”, thus “a liberal meat supply has always been associated with a happy and virile people.” A book called Meat Technology says “the virile Australian race is a typical example of heavy meat eaters.” virile = manly!

Seymour Hersh’s The Price of Power is a great exposé of Nixon’s real foreign policy machinations that came out in 1983. Subsequent declassifications and evidence have confirmed the book’s description of how decisions were made. E. Howard Hunt & James McCord are the two “ex”-CIA guys in Watergate.

Nixon’s military chiefs were using military attaches to spy on documents that Nixon and Kissinger and friends were sharing amongst each other about their overtures to China and the USSR, and leaving the SecDef and the Secretary of State out of the loop as well. It was all Nixon/Kissinger.

Jake Hamby @jakehamby.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Alexander Haig was a slippery character as well. I didn’t realize he got rapidly promoted by Nixon for his service to Nixon and not his service in war. Wikipedia paints only a skeleton overview of the Moorer-Radford Affair, where the Joint Chiefs were spying on Nixon’s security council (Kissinger).

At least in the Watergate case, the alleged call girl ring allegedly being run out of the DNC HQ was made up of willing college-age women who weren’t being trafficked afaik, so it’s way less reprehensible than the Franklin / Lawrence E. King / Craig Spence / Boystown ring from the 1980s.

Jake Hamby @jakehamby.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
If you read Bryant’s book, he makes clear exactly how both grand jury investigations (state and federal) were rigged to make the accusers / victims look like liars, when the only thing they were guilty of was accusing powerful Omaha and DC people of trafficking. Wikipedia makes them out to be liars.
130
Jake Hamby @jakehamby.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
One thing Nick Bryant bemoans, as do I, is that certain Wikipedia entries are obviously controlled by the CIA or other intelligence agencies, like the story about the Franklin sex trafficking investigation and how two victims were convicted for prison sentences for perjury for not recanting.

If you really want to get suspicious, Gerald Ford was on the Warren Commission and he was one of the fixers for the official story (along with Allen Dulles, who would’ve been covering up his own potential involvement in the JFK assassination if he were involved; see The Devils’s Chessboard).

I recently read a book by Rachel Maddow about Spiro Agnew’s corruption as governor, and how the administration had to figure a way to get him to resign quickly after Nixon’s reelection because they knew Nixon was one way or another, and they couldn’t have another obvious crook take over as POTUS.

There’s a strong case to be made that Bob Woodward’s entire journalism career is a CIA “Operation Mockingbird” situation, and that “Deep Throat” was a composite of several people. He says in the interview why the “flower pot on the balcony” and “clock drawn on his NYT copy” signaling couldn’t work.

Jake Hamby @jakehamby.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
His theory is that the bugging operation was about a political call girl blackmail ring that was running out of the DNC headquarters, and that the reason these elements of the CIA were mad at Nixon and wanted to take him out of power, was that his overtures to China & Russia were seen as treasonous.
230
Jake Hamby @jakehamby.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Nixon was taken down not for the really bad crimes that we found out over the following decade, like the secret bombing of Cambodia and various illegal campaign contributions, but because of a botched double burglary of the DNC headquarters at the Watergate. Some aspects don’t make a lot of sense.
130
Jake Hamby @jakehamby.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
That’s a conspiracy he believes in that he doesn’t actually claim to have any firsthand knowledge about; it’s just his opinion. He does do a lot of real research for his books. I’m reading his book on Watergate now, namely the theory that several involved had CIA ties and wanted to take Nixon down.

tbf it’s entirely *plausible* that COVID-19 came from the Wuhan lab who were somehow being paid by the CDC and USAID to work on bioweapons (*with* China? Less plausible). The thing is that all the evidence points to a natural mutation jumping the species barrier. The DNA has long been sequenced.
