As someone who has spend two decades of my life trying to read all the RPG systems, as someone who has written systems, please, don't fucking bother, it's mostly nonsense. Read what you need, ignore the rest. The rules are never as important as the stuff you and your friends make up as you play.

It's the rules that you have to read all the rules, except for the rule that states explicitly states that you can add or discard any rules you wish. That is a _bad_ rule, as opposed to the others, which are _good_ rules.

The problem is that there are people who think they have to answer questions out of the blue and do a company's employee assessments for them, for free. These obliging and kind hearted folks are encouraging these calls and I wish they would stop.

I get phone calls from companies that start "One a one to ten scale, how satisfied are you with your service from..." and I just interrupt and tell them I do not rate things from one to ten. I utter this absurd statement with religious finality and hang up. I wish other people would too.

Maybe. I don't think it would be as fun if the system actually encouraged you to do it though. We knew it was cheating in some very minor way, which was probably the main source of delight in the act.

What it usually meant in my old groups is you just "forgot" and used that character at another table, or gifted it to a starting player. Some DMs would make you rip up the character sheet or put a big X over it in pen to prevent this, which was always a bit of table drama.

Apropos of current news, when one of my friends took the test to become a Resident Assistant (RA) at a dorm, there was a question that automatically fails you if you answer wrong. They ask if someone reports a rape, do you call the campus or the police? Guess which answer is wrong. Go ahead.

Two things it does not do: it cannot create a field on the sheet where you can import a character picture, and it does not create transparent text box backgrounds. So TBH it is a little limited but easier to use than adobe or most online ones.

Using libreoffice, actually. It's pretty easy to make an editable character sheet in the standard open office format then save it in pdf. Easier than the sort of clunky native pdf controls adobe gives you. Not sure if it does calculations in the form fields yet, but those get corrupted easily.

Maybe I'm wrong, this might work without adjusting utility spells: 1) their benefits kind of scale to level already (detect traps, frex, is just as good if it detects a trap at low levels as high) and 2) it makes thieves come into style again at higher levels, as MUs won't want to waste slots.

I read something a while back about how if you get in a fight and your pants fall down, you have lost that fight, no matter what else happened. Next game I run I am going to have a character's pants fall down at 0 HP instead of more lethal consequences. #ttrpg

Yeah. I actually ask a similar question about algae, etc. during some of my neuroscience classes, challenging students to tell me what good a brain is when the most "successful" organisms do just fine without one. I always like the answers and pushback.

It works on today's trump rules, where there are all sorts of norms and edicts, but since there are no actual teeth to them a devious person can easily work out that they can cheat with impunity. I didn't mean it to be topical but that's how it turned out.

Now that my whole mini-golf section of my scenario is complete, I am proud of one thing. I didn't contrive any supernatural reasons that the players could not cheat. While it seems like there would be some prohibition, It is actually totally indifferent to that and they can engage with it or not.

Cool. The diffuse light is right for the pitcher plant, as well as plenty of moisture. I have one and it is pretty hardy and grows like wildfire. I have had no luck with flytraps tho.
