Working with children who have experienced loss or disrupted relationships teaches you that letting go can be an act of care too there is a thank you for what someone gave us & a sorry for what it cost And sometimes it means allowing something to end, rather than holding it close

Silence as a response can be deafening indeed! But for a child is it chosen, imposed, protective or powerFULL? It may convey calm, compliance, uncertainty, withdrawal…It can uphold rights, but for ECE it can be the most destabilising response with so much to understand, we need to know more #edusky

So often the reflective work within ‘working with families’ is missing from early childhood education. A lot of focus on structures & systems of partnership without the underpinning work of our own experiences, assumptions and biases & this will shape how educators see, hear and respond to families.

1/2 Relational pedagogy…only til it gets difficult? When does prof caution start to erode relational authenticity & when does being aware of how we’re ‘seen’ stop us being ourselves? If we declare a relational appr, we should remain recognisably the same, even as contexts /conversations change..
