Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...

A casual Star Wars alien fella at the cantina, in a sun faded, reddish photo. Someone will be mad at me for not knowing who this is.

Phil, a balding Caucasian man, poses a model of the garthok, an antagonist from the Coneheads movie.

Phil, a balding caucasian man, points at some CG on a CRT computer monitor, as a younger man looks on. The screen shows a model of a dinosaur attacking a jeep, while there's an actual physical model of that event in the foreground for reference.

an isolated shot of a star wars vehicle. Sorry, I don't know star wars lol

I *would* say that, except that Shazam came out. And The Owl House. Refutations of such cliches for little children. It's not the responsibility of individual creators and their shows to hit every beat if they're making other points instead. But neither can one ignore big media's effect on people.

Like, I dunno, I don't care so much about the movie, but I can appreciate when the message set up here is "Maybe *DON'T* put images in the new girl's head that her uncle is a different race's stereotype to justify guilting him out of your lives?" But yes, some critique does go further than others.

Also the Encanto discourse is not doing their job if they don't hammer home that the #1 hit single is hinging on the fact that the characters come in to explicitly visualize their *FORTUNE-TELLING* blood relative like this:

Dutch angle of Bruno hooded to accentuate his large nose and smiling facial hair, as he gives a stereotypical fortune teller hand gesture.

Low angle of Bruno with glowing green eyes, hunched over frame with sprawled fingers, as if to pounce.
