With the state's outdated FAR cap finally gone, we were able to DOUBLE the amount of housing in our proposal for Midtown South. 10,000 new homes in the heart of Manhattan — let's make it happen!

It sure has been an exciting first week on the communications team at @nycplanning.bsky.social 🥳 Huge congrats to everyone who got City of Yes to the finish line. We can and must fix the housing shortage — and today’s vote is a huge step forward!

America needs to adjust safety standards to align with Europe so that we can have rolling stock with doors on the outside. That means big windows and big doorways.

Traffic violence is one of the leading causes of injurious death for children in New York City, and we need solutions. Congestion pricing will bring better transportation, cleaner air, and safer streets — benefiting students and teachers across the region. This lawsuit is wrong.

A bike network is only as strong as its weakest link. Finishing this project is critical for safety. This news comes after the 26th bike rider was killed on Mayor Adams’ streets, and again demonstrates that the mayor’s attention is on special interests and not safety.
2023 is on track to be the second deadliest year in recorded history for bike riders, and now the last block of Ashland — critical to protecting the entire corridor — is the latest casualty in an ongoing war against street safety led by the mayor

Emanuel Patterson was the 26th New Yorker killed on a bike this year. Mayor Adams is failing New Yorkers. More bike riders have been killed at this point in 2023 than any other year under Vision Zero. Yet, he has advanced no concrete actions or plans to stop this violence.

From my @streetsblognyc.bsky.social op-ed last year: Turn asphalt into a resilience tool. → Build bioswales in place of parking → Plant more trees (1 tree planted in a small pit can reduce rain runoff by around 60%) → More parks and gardens citywide

Our streets — which are impervious to water & make up 75% of our public space — make us more vulnerable on days like today. This weather endangers New Yorkers, destroys homes & cripples our subway. We need to expand proven tools to protect us: New bioswales, trees, green space.
