Absolutely other candidates are under this kind of scrutiny, it's not nitpicking to be disturbed by whitewashing a violent dog whistle, Even if he says " oh I don't say it but my friends do and I think that's just fine." He's better than Como but that doesn't mean it's not disturbing.

Probably a practical decision because the left needs to win in this country. Just as many Jewish voters didn't vote for him and a lot of Jewish organizations have called this out specifically, even if you haven't heard it. The NYC Mayor situation is difficult because anyone who's able to mobilize voters for the Democratic Party is obviously good for the country because we need to win. At the same time, it is disturbing to see people act like there aren't very real reasons to be disturbed by his rhetoric re: Jews

The proposal is for bus fares and not train fares, so they would still be doing that. I don't know if that would really come out ahead, requires a more thorough and rigorous analysis

So only about 1 million people voted in the NYC Mayor Primary, a city of 8 million. That's a lot of people but still pretty low when you think about, most people are apathetic.
