Yes same here with speckled wood, saw some but not as many. I wonder if the very dry and hot end to summer made it harder or something else. I saw lots of peacock caterpillars but then very few late summer adults.

Reflecting on the butterfly year - I noticed far fewer peacock, skipper and comma butterflies this year. How did they fair with everyone else?

It’s specifically diving in with an AI video accusation before asking about something clearly with a simple explanation - that’s really damaging when you know from my posts that’s not going to be the case. I would recommend being careful before saying that to other people in future.
000
Jack Wallington @jackwallington.com · 19/09/2026
I have just changed it but it doesn’t change how bad it is that you dived straight in with that accusation without even watching the video or asking why the subtitles mention walnuts against almonds.
000
Jack Wallington @jackwallington.com · 19/09/2026
I think you are being a bit over the top and it’s incredibly irresponsible to just instantly accuse people of “AI slop” when it doesn’t use AI at all. That’s just damaging to people’s reputation. YouTube automatically takes a still from a video as the main image.
100
Jack Wallington @jackwallington.com · 19/09/2026
Oh I see what you mean, the image still, YouTube has just chosen a frame from the video. If you watch the actual video you’ll see I talk about all the nuts in order.
100
Jack Wallington @jackwallington.com · 19/09/2026
I don’t understand what you are talking about- have you watched the video?
100
Jack Wallington @jackwallington.com · 19/09/2026
Why would you think it’s AI? It’s my hand holding almonds - they’re from a packet
