In my student days, it didn’t matter much. Nowadays « states’ rights » can make this very consequential for certain students. If a student’s life might be on the line about something determined by state legislation, especially for longer periods of the year, IMO they should be able to weigh in.

I'm of the opinion that while there are media distortions (social + mass) that accentuate bad news, most folks are not crazy. The "vibes" are off for many reasons, including rampant corruption, visibly higher prices/lower purchasing power, increased surveillance and difficult hiring environment.
