Maybe it's just that I kind of lost myself in the intervening years & have only recently "become myself" again, so that's why being reminded of that time by music that was incredibly important to me then produces a visceral reaction now. It's not a bad thing at all. Glad to be "back" as I should be.

I was taken by surprise by being moved to tears watching a video of Jason Isbell reuniting with Drive-By Truckers to play Outfit this past week. The album that was on and the umpteen shows with him in DBT I saw back then were during a emotionally intense time in my life, and I guess that resurfaced.

Got some bones from Etsy to use for making jewelry. Ethically sourced. Chicken bones. To me, they have zero smell. I spent most of my working life working for someone else, and it's much much better working only for my clients and not also a boss. I have a rather good job. That said, if I could open a nicely profitable oddities, curiosities, and other spooky goods shop, I'd do that instead in a heartbeat. 😁👻

As much as I'm bitching about my job, I do love having my own practice, and most of my clients are wonderful. It's when I let the other clients, admin burden, and entitled rude enquiries make me lose sight of that it's high time for a burnout break so I can return fresh to do good work.

Day 3 of my staycation. My mother says "normal pleasant Julie" has returned already. Then I told her how my phone, against instructions, notified me of an email from a particular client, and my first thought was " never contact me again." So I definitely need at least the rest of the week off.

Two of my friends I met in high school, who just married each other last year, have opened a very cool bookshop in my town. It has a light cafe, art exhibits, poetry readings, and live music on occasion. I just picked up these two beauties there this week. How could I not?
