From now until 2030, the fight for climate progress will be won as much through narrative as through policy.
That was the focus of the first public session on the UNFCCC Plan to Accelerate, which we hosted during London Climate Action Week.
Narratives can uphold the fossil fuel industry's social licence to operate, or help dismantle it. They deepen public understanding of the climate crisis and, when rooted in local contexts and communities, build connection instead of division.
They also counter misinformation, identified by the UN as one of today's most significant global risks, and create the conditions for stronger advocacy, better policy, and faster climate action.
A huge thank you to Futerra Solutions Union for hosting, and to our brilliant speakers:
Lucy Shea Futerra
Charlotte Scaddan United Nations
Shweta Narayan Global Climate and Health Alliance
Jake Dubbins Conscious Advertising Network
Lisa Merrick-Lawless Purpose Disruptors
Kumi Naidoo Global Artivism
Julian Etienne DOC SOCIETY
and our very own Lucy von Sturmer and Thea de Gallier
As we look ahead to COP31, we're continuing, and scaling, this work.
And to our friends in Brazil: our Strategic Advisor, Maria Correa, is at São Paulo Climate Week. If you're there too, we'd love to connect.
Finally, thank you to Siddiqui Media for capturing the event on film. 🙏
