Europe is told it regulates while others build. This week I told the Nordic and Baltic ministers of culture a different story. For small countries, shared data standards, neutral intermediaries and federated infrastructure don't hold competitiveness back. They are how we compete.

Yes but in the case of AI it does massively increase the clarity about how simple regulation and enforcement could be. Speaking of handguns, you're twice as likely to be shot dead with one if you live in a household that has one. They don't protect you. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022...

Chris means "More concerning is that corporations don't prioritise cybersecure logging of both software development & code execution." We do have such records in better-regulated industries eg automotive, tho lately #Tesla started banning car owners from accessing locally-stored records post crash.

American's skyrocketing rates of #bankruptcy since the 1970s is a likely cause of US polarisation. cf @warren.senate.gov 's academic career, particularly her 2004 paper, which drove her into public service. I hope she's on Simon's concern. How many people will gamble that #AI can make them rich?

So @conjugateprior.org was like "why hasn't SAB folded into biology yet?" which reminded me – a bunch of us figured out we like diplomats had to learn the language and practices of the sciences we were interested in. So I started publishing & attending in biology and now political economy instead.
