I just posted this to Instagram and I’m leaving it here too in case you need to see it….

Lots of you getting in touch to tell me how despairing you feel after this week's local election result so here are some reasons for hope:
- if it had been a general election, voting patterns would have produced a hung parliament not a Reform victory.
- Reform may be doing a lap of honour, but polling suggests their popularity has hit a ceiling of around 26% of the electorate and won't grow.
- one of the reasons for this is that Reform have painted themselves into a corner where they have to keep saying and doing more extreme things to appeal to their cultish, MAGA-like, perpetually online core supporters;
- BUT as I said last night on my show, analysis by @moreincommonk and others shows there is another type of Reform supporter, one who isn't necessarily racist or misogynistic, but just (understandably) fed up and disillusioned. Those voters don't like the culture war/extreme stuff and were put off by Yousef's
'detention centres in green areas' video, for example;
- if we can find a way to make this group of voters realise that Farage and Co aren't remotely 'anti establishment' in the way they pretend, they can be won back to the centre ground.

"NHS waiting list going down" - still can't get a GP appointment without waiting a month for even a phone call. Waiting lists for specialists with a referral are up to a year, when Right to Treatment is 18 weeks and advertised waiting lists are 25-30 with no communication or alternatives provided.

Yup, I can absolutely understand that take tbh. BIGGER IS BETTER is not always the way and for me, it's a turn off. No shade on ANYONE who enjoys it but I prefer a more linear experience with smaller, rich worlds to explore.

For day 6 of #invertefest, a Japanese Sea Nettle (Chrysaora pacifica), from #invertober2025. A bit more of a sketchy style for this one - I was trying to be quick - but I remember getting really tangled up in those tangly tentacles! Watercolour and coloured charcoal pencil on paper 🐡 🦑

The bell of this Japanese Sea Nettle is pale orange-pink with darker segments radiating out from its centre with dark purple or maroon edges. The tentacles are a similar colour to the bell and are tangly (difficult to draw!) against a turquoise (lower) and khaki green (upper) sea behind.
