It's ME Awareness Day today. I read this poetry bundle a week ago and it made me sob from start to finish. It was beautiful. Give it a read if you want a peek into our lives from a different angle. Big hugs to everyone in the community who'd like one. We're in this together 🫂
The book "The Sun-Room" by Jess Watts is edited into the picture with a white boarder. The cover shows a bed with white bedsheets. At the top of the image is the text "May 12th ME Awareness Day." At the bottom is the text "Poems about living with ME." On the side is the text "Separated in four parts, starting with grief and ending with trying to live on.
I sobbed every other poem and keep coming back to them over the past weeks."A screenshot of The Sun-Room with the text:
"The sick inhabit a shadow-realm where the healthy don't want to tread. They prefer not to find us, to wait until we've overcome our ailments and stand atop Mount Everest with a smile that declares Look How Strong I Was To Get Through This.

Not everything is an inspiring sound-bite story for the healthy to consume and the sick to aspire to. It's not a battle with a winner; disease doesn't pick an opponent to challenge to a duel.

Do something grand and extraordinary to make your sickness relevant, says society. We want our disabled shiny and productive.

I try not to listen to these voices but sometimes, they sound too much like me."A screenshot of The Sun-Room with the text:
"My little brother knocks on my door and finds me crying on my bed. He's saying goodbye before heading into the city; I can smell his cologne as he folds his arms around me.

I tell him: 'I love when you're home but it also hurts so much.' He asks me why and I say, 'Because you're a living reminder of everything I can't do anymore.' I look at him in this battleground of love and envy. 'I'm sorry.

He hugs me tighter. 'I'm sorry too.'"A screenshot of The Sun-Room with the text:
"A Google search: 'Help with Intense Anger'

The following paragraph is from Mind:

Do something to distract yourself mentally or physically - anything that completely changes your situation, thoughts or patterns can help stop your anger escalating. For example, you could try: putting on upbeat music and dancing, doing something with your hands, like fixing something or making something.

What the fuck are you supposed to do when you can't change your situation because you carry it with you? My rage is trapped within my body and my body is the cause of my rage. I can only wait to bleed out, waiting, always waiting, for the red to dull to blue.

This is when I cry."

Late because crip time Happy #LesbianVisibilityWeek I read this book for the trans rights readathon as the main character is a nonbinary lesbian. I absolutely loved it this sci-fi heist story and all the tension between the main character and their love interest.
The Illumicrate special edition of the book Hammajang Luck from Makana Yamamoto lies on a green blanket. The book has a gradient blue to pink cover with a gold foil detailed pattern. The title of the book is in the middle in black, inbetween the two words is a logo of a space ship in a circle. The edges are pink with a similar motif as on the book. Next to the book is also a pink and blue tangle stim toy.

Some monster girl stories for my monster romance followers! What monster girls do you like? #MonsterRomance #BookReview #QueerBooks
The cover of "She Was Monstress" is surrounded by tropes and sentences about the book. On the top left it says "eARC Review."
The tropes and sentences are:
- Many monster girls having fun
- Hot and Wholesome
- F/F, M/F, F/F/F romance and more
- Varied length of short stories
- Girls that are demons on the outside, and sweethearts on the insidePart of the review text is visible for the book She Was Monstress. The cover of the book is visible in the bottom right corner. In the bottom left corner is the word "Review" with Ivan's handle @ivaninprint.
Review text:
This was an awesome anthology that gave me so much fun!

This anthology gave me many monster girls to enjoy and damn did I have a good time. The anthology gives heat levels to each story and there was a varied collection of them. The pairings were also very diverse which was great fun as well. All stories were very distinct while having the overarching awesome theme of monster girls.
Part of the review text is visible for the book She Was Monstress. The cover of the book is visible in the bottom right corner. In the bottom left corner is the word "Review" with Ivan's handle @ivaninprint.
Review text:
The anthology started strong with one of my favorite ones with "How I Became a Succubus's Pet." This was a longer story about a young man that accidentally summons a sex demon. This story had a lot of emotional tension and a longer buildup towards the monster girl and the young man getting together. I loved how they wanted to get closer but both were too stubborn to, until the point they finally give us a smut scene and things came so satisfactory together.
Part of the review text is visible for the book She Was Monstress. The cover of the book is visible in the bottom right corner. In the bottom left corner is the word "Review" with Ivan's handle @ivaninprint.
Review text:
I also really enjoyed "In the Kraken's Grasp." This story is about a kraken in Las Vegas meeting two cute witches at a bar and things lead from there. They eventually drive out of the bar towards a lovely secluded spot where they start getting intimate. I loved it how the two witches both reacted very different to the main character being a kraken making the way they had fun together very different. The way the magic of the witches interacted with the monster girl was really interesting and kept me hooked to the story. At the end I wished I could read more of these girls and the world so maybe that's a good call for me to look up the authors other books.

Happy Trans Day of Visibility everyone. Here are my favorite books to ramble about Stay safe y'all.🫂🫂
The text "My Favorite Trans Books" stands at the top. At the bottom it reads "A post for Trans Day of Visibility." In the middle is a block of text saying "A list of books that I hold close to my heart and always feel like talking about." Next to the block of text is a selfie from Ivan, a white nonbinary guy with a beard, black glasses and holding a blahaj shark. In the bottom left is a drawn hand holding a long trans flag. The text "Trans Women" stands at the top.
The book Make Room for Love by Darcy Liao with the text:
This was a January read for me and gosh did I love it. This sweet romance between a butch lesbian renting out a room in an apartment to a cute trans girl fleeing her ex was amazing. The way these two were growing towards each other during the book was so fun to read and I couldn't get enough.
The book Light From Uncommon Stars from Ryka Aoki with the text:
Light From Uncommon Stars is a story about a trans girl trying to break through as a violist. But at the same time there is this real fun donut shop that might have owners that aren't completely human. These two parts seem unrelated but come together so well in this heartfelt and funny book.
The book The Subtweet by Vivek Shraya with the text:
The Subtweet was my last book of 2024 and took me by surprise. This book is so full of drama in the ways that make it a great read. Imagine multiple trans woman music artists that keep subtweeting about each other making the hidden fights and friction bigger and bigger over time until it all comes tumbling down. The text "Trans Men" stands at the top.
The book Spirit Bares it's Teeth from Andrew Joseph White with the text:
A historical horror YA book I greatly enjoyed. Andrew Joseph White has many great books but this one is my favorite. The gore was plenty in this book but gosh so well done. The plot hooked me hard too and didn't let me go. The ending was also extremely lovely and stayed with me for long.
The book Cemetery Boys from Aiden Thomas with the text:
One of the first transmasc books I read and has had a special place in my heart since. I hope to reread it soon with the sequel coming out. This is a book about a queer trans boy and a ghost he summoned and his quest to help this ghost to the afterlife. However many feelings follow, for the characters and me as reader. The ending left me sobbing so hard.
The book As The Light Goes Out by Olive J Kelly with the text:
As the Light Goes Out was very sexually liberating to me. Seeing trans men top other men is absolutely empowering to me. For it then to be wrapped up in this wonderful seaside story about a bipolar guy made it a perfect book for me.
The text "Nonbinary" stands at the top.
The book Godly Heathens by H.E. Edgmon with the text:
Godly Heathens was an eARC I was so proud of to recieve and gosh did it deliver. I had such a good time with this book and it's sequel. This indigenous story about a trans teen figuring out they're actually a god (and so are their friends) is so full of emotions and morally grey teens. Especially the main character is more of a villain than a hero, but gosh it makes for a great story.
The book Model Home by Rivers Solomon with the text:
Model Home was another eARC that blew me away. This book starts as a story about a haunted house but turns into this book adressing intense topics like racism and sexual abuse. Solomon is a favorite of mine discussing these things and this book is another absolute gem.
The book In the Care of Magic by Robin Jo Margaret with the text:
This story about an agender sex demon being summoned by a woman has a special place in my heart. It's short & sweet & spicy and so much fun. I ordered a special edition of this in December so I can show it off in all my posts and love every book Robin Jo Margaret puts out.

Merciless Saviors - H.E. Edgmon
Ander & Santi Were Here - Jonny Garza Villa
Trans and Disabled - Edited by Alex Iantaffi
One of the Boys - Victoria ZellerA brown and beige background with the text:

Hey everyone,

I've been away from social media for a bit because my life has been really overwhelming.
I've been struggling but still able to cope (made real good progress on my crochet project).
Reading has been a bit harder though and I hope this readathon will get me out of that low. I've only finished one book this month, which is more than others I know, but for me it feels like I lost a hobby that was so essential to who I am.

Reading for trans causes is really motivating however and I hope with a good focus setup I can maybe read three books. Both my partner and I will be donating 5€ per read book to the Dutch organization Stichting Transman.

I hope to check instagram and other places more the upcoming days to see everyones lovely posts.

Excited!

I've seen many great recommendations come by this week so I wanted to share some of mine too.
A row of books with their spine forward stand in front of a few crystals in colors of the aromantic flag with the text: "Books I love for: Aromantic Spectrum Awareness Week."
The books in the row are:
Compound Fracture
Godly Heathens
Vespertine
The Kindred
Kaikeyi
In the Care of MagicTwo book covers of "Common Bonds" and "Common Bonds 2" are shown. They are surrounded by the text: "Books I'm excited for!" "Now on Kickstarter!" and "Speculative Aromantic Anthology." The covers both show dense foliage of plants surrounding two monotone figures. The first anthology has green leaves and pink humans holding booms. The second anthology shows orange fall leaves and two blue humans knitting together.

Review time! Enjoyed this book so much! Thank you @morgandante.bsky.social for the e ARC
The digital cover of Sacrament from Morgan Date is pictured around clusters of words that contain information about the book. The cover is a classical human figure in deep red tones with something stuck in their chest. On the top left is the text "eARC review." The tropes around the book are: "Vampire Master x Human Familiar x The latter's BFF," "M/M/M romance," "Dark romance with plenty of blood, grote and abuse," "Vampire bites" ans "Gay men trying to support each other by sacrificing themselves."
Part of the text of the review is pictured with the book cover in the bottom right and the text "Review" and "@ivaninprint" separated by a white line.

Review text:
This book was intense in the best kind of way.

I requested this eARC quite a while ago, so when I started it I went in quite blind. And damn did it blow me away. Very much positively, but it also made me struggle. When I requested this my mental health was in quite a good place and all the triggers were fine, but now 2 months later that changed. I had to take mental health breaks reading it making it 15 days to finish the book which is extremely long for me. But I finished it and it was so worth it.
No cover is visible but only a part of the review text with the handle "@ivaninprint."

Review text:
This book starts with the perspective of Maël. Sweet, innocent and hard working Maël. Gosh that guy I'd give him a hug. His interactions with Sebestyen had so much emotion, postive, negative, abusive, caring it was a mix that made me feel so many strong emotions. It's a push and pull that goes in many directions between these two broken men.
I loved how this was shown in the book until the hight when part two starts.

Part two had a POV switch that made the book feel incredibly different. It was a huge switch from the first part and I needed a moment to get familiar with it. But gosh hearing more sides of this relationship was exactly what was needed to shake things up and keep it interesting, while continuing with the bigger overarching plot and romance.
The last part of the text of the review is pictured with the book cover in the bottom right and the text "Review" and "@ivaninprint" separated by a white line.

Review text:
I also really liked the way vampirism was done in this book, with proper horror elements that were gruesome and bad with that forever kind of sexy allure. It pulled me in real fast at the start and got me hooked after a few chapters.

Concluding this is a good book for anyone loving dark romance with vampires.

Getting to the point that I'm missing ARC release dates. I kept my ARCs numbers extremely low for December and January for my surgery but had a few planned for February. But I worsened so significantly with both my physical and mental health I am just unable to do anything.

@paigevoice.bsky.social who also narrated Children of Iverbourne and Princess of Terra, has brought Rajni and her crew to life. The audiobook is now available on Audible, and I'm so excited to share it with you. The Rebel Foxes is full of trans rage, found family, and shapeshifting queers. (1/2)
The audiobook cover of The Rebel Foxes by Noah Hawthorne, captioned with the words, 'Narrated by Paige Reisenfeld.' The cover features a trans woman with brown skin, dirty blonde hair. She wears a respirator with flowers and plants growing out of the vents, a leather jacket, fingerless gloves, and tight pants. She wields two cans of spray paint, and is spraying magic and vegetation all over.

First review post since my surgery! °°° Hey friends, today a review again. This book I haven't seen mentioned much but really meant a lot to me. I hope you might enjoy it too! #AutismBooks #AutismRepresentation #BookReview
The book "Sounds of Yesterday" by Jacob Hubbard surrounded my multiple book related objects that are edited in. The cover shows the main character next to his ex girlfriend sitting on a bench on the stage of a concert hall, their backs are facing us. The main character wears headphones and there is a standing microphone next to them.
The first object edited in around it is a big microphone, there are also LOOP earplugs and a Tangle stimming toy. On the top right is the text "Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow?" referencing the way the chapters are named in the book.Text on a beige background that says:
So I have read plenty of books with Autism representation and enjoyed most of them. One issue that I have with some though is that my Autism is usually a bit more disabling than most characters in books.
In my experience most books have Autistic characters showing level 1 Autism. In the Netherlands we don't use levels so personally I'm not diagnosed with a level, but with me living in a 24/7 care institute for managing my Autism I would say I'm somewhere around level 2. I haven't found any kind of person like me on that regard in books before. Most Autistic protagonists live on their own if they're adults and manage their daily life without needing to speak social workers daily. They don't have meltdowns that need professional intervention else they don't go away. And that's okay, those Autistic people definitely exist and deserve their representation too. But representation with someone like me I haven't seen before I read this book.
This book, is one big exception and made me feel incredibility seen. The main character of this book has self destructive stims. Stims they can't hold back even if they try. And I don't do those myself anymore, I very much used to in my childhood. Seeing that on page, humanized in a way that makes it just a part of Autism and not something infantalizing, made me feel at home in this book from the start.

Text on a beige background that says:
One thing in the Autism representation that also really stood out to me is that you can read the character getting stuck on mental things. I struggle with this the most myself in my daily life, that I just don't understand things, even with multiple explanations by brain can't grasp it. But also getting stuck on thoughts and spiraling from there was something that very much happened in the book. These scenes were both beautiful and painful to read. It was like a big mirror in front of me that made me understand myself better from an outward perspective which was nice, but also a big confrontation with my own limits. It was good, but definitely hard as well.

Outside of the Autism representation the book is very much about moving on from a relationship that ended. I read a lot of romance books where the whole plot is basically the opposite, so for a change seeing the aftermath when things don't work out was beautiful in it's own way. Breaking up with your partner is messy and can leave you unmoored for a long while and this book showed all sides of that struggle. The main character was living his own life but kept relating everything back to their partner and just wasn't able to mentally move on. Seeing him slowly work through his feelings made me look back on my own breakups and how I might not have handled those all the best. And to be honest in the book it also isn't handled the best, this stuff is messy. But following this journey was an amazing read.

Concluding this book was a refreshing read with Autism representation in a way I really needed.

New book cover reveal from @tesscarletta.bsky.social I'm so excited to continue reading this MM romantasy! Flowers growing from skin as magic had me hooked from the start!
A new revealed cover of "Goldheart" by @tess.carletta stands next to the edited text of "Cover Reveal!" and "Out June 25th". In it, a black man sits on a settee offering a flower to an Arab man kneeling on the ground. The former is dressed in lavish clothes, the latter in full armor. Around them, a greenhouse with pink and purple flowers. Outside the window, the sun is setting.

Ivan sits in a relaxed chair with the logo of the @dequeerboekenkast on the wall behind them. On a small table next to him stands a tea, and in front of the picture taker is still partially visible their walker. On the walker is a pair of penis socks and a stack of books. Ivan sits with long hair in a ponytail, black glasses and a reddish winter coat and is smiling. Surgery Recovery story!

It's been a while since I've properly been online. Surgery recovery is still going on but I hope I feel a bit better now to start posting.

Recovery was intense, I couldn't leave the bed or couch at all with exceptions for toilet visits during the first 2 weeks. Being so dependent on my partners was intense and took a lot from me mentally.

Then at 2 weeks I had a complication and developed pulmonary embolisms which I went to the ER for. The inactivity from the surgery recovery created thrombosis in my leg that was the cause of it. Everything is fine now, but it definitely took a lot out of me.

After four weeks one of my partners had to go home and couldn't stay at my other partner anymore. We planned for me to go home then too, but I very much wasn't able to. I went home with them and am now still staying at my other partners place. We're planning now for me to go home in a week or two.
A picture of books spread out over a bed cover bought at De Queer Boekenkast . The books laid out are:
Ander & Santi Were Here - Jonny Garza Villa
Celestial Monsters - Thomas Aiden
Mr. Warren's Profession - Sebastian Nothwell
Eeuw van de Vhéi AND Het Land der Runen - Valentijn Ringelberg
World Running Down - AL Hess
The Call-Out - Cat Fitzpatrick
The Prospects - KT HoffmanFor the first picture it's a layout of the books I bought when going to the Queer bookstore in Alkmaar.

My surgeon is situated in the north of Amsterdam and the trip to Alkmaar is relatively short from there, especially as I live all the way in the south. So together with my friend Kat and my partner we went there and had the greatest time.
I shopped many books, browsed for over an hour, and got offered tea.

The bookstore seller was lovely and helped me to some water right when we got in. I needed to take my painmeds but forgot to take water to the appointment, oops. But the store seller was happy to give me a glass.

Then because we stayed for so long we also got offered a tea and we sat down in lovely chairs and chilled for a second. Had a real good time. Thank you to the De Queer Boekenkast.

Some Christmas love to start the season! This is lovely book with lots of love but also lots of pain. The major character growth was amazing and I really enjoyed this book.
The book "Just Like Christmas" by Annabel den Dekker stands next to a plushy and a wooden mushroom. The plushy is a jellyfish with a color scheme of the vincian flag in green and blue hues. The mushrrom is light brown wood in it's stem with a red and white painted top. The cover of the book shows the two main characters together with family dog of one of the two. Behind the characters is a Christmas tree.

This book was so fun! Interesting magic, deep friendships, nonstop intense moments it had it all. Very excited for the sequel. Full review on app.thestorygraph.com/reviews/fa5e...
The book Threads of the City by Wren Archer stands next to a plant and a crocheted plushy. The cover shows the main character Ash and all of the magical "threads" she can see flowing in the city. The plant is a succulent that looks like a cactus with multiple thinner plants coming out of the clay plant pot. The plushy is a red with white dots mushroom with a smiling face on the stem.
