Also all California basins including the Central Valley are indeed under a constant blanket of smog. See this gradient? That's smog across the valley. It's persistent, every day. The horizon is bordered with it on all sides here. It's a crystal clear day otherwise.

Just outside my house, a shot of the sky as close to the horizon that I could get above Fresno, CA. It starts at the top a blue that's a bit lighter than clear sky blue and then gets dingey gray as you move down and approach the horizon. It's the layer of smog that blankets all of the Central Valley, and which only disappears for a couple days after heavy rain. And note, this is the improvement: twenty years ago it was worse and twenty years prior to that, worse still.

The cabinet-sized units, dubbed XFRA, are installed on the sides of homes and small businesses. Requiring no fans, the technology is quiet, mitigating the problem of noise pollution that has drawn the ire of residents of areas with nearby warehouse data centers.

Ryan Harris, chief revenue officer of Span, said the company estimates XFRA will be able to generate about one to two megawatts worth of compute later this year, scaling across the country to an annual capacity of more than 1 gigawatt beginning next year. PulteGroup, among the largest homebuilders in the U.S., is testing the system. Nvidia will provide the liquid-cooled RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs for the system.

I know the guy this is based on, wearing shorts, and he loved this depiction of him. He was one of the lead managers at Sierra Online and more than kind of an asshole. Some people love that shit.

Oh those movies are bad in a lot of ways. For starters that first movie "based on a true story": that true story is the Warrens showed up unannounced and got told to fuck off, that's was the end of it. Then there was the teenage grooming and rape.

In 2017, Judith Penney claimed that she had a 40-year sexual relationship with Ed, beginning when he was 27 and she was 15. According to Penney, when she became pregnant, Lorraine persuaded her to have an abortion because the birth of a child would become a public scandal and could ruin the Warrens' business. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is legitimately great despite being laden with every trope in fantasy. I didn't think they could top Peter Dinklage or Pedro Pascal for character, and they managed to give me a guy who is legitimately as close to a love child between those two that one could get.

Millennial here: sit down, we grew up playing games like Kings Quest where the first lesson of the game is "how to turn left or right with the arrow keys and avoid death" and even that took a while to get right.
