Above and Below Titan's Atmosphere #5 - From Val Klavans - flic.kr/p/j1L9L1
On the left is a true color image of Titan. The moon's north polar hood is visible in this view. The image on the right is a representation of what it would look like if you could see past Titan's atmosphere and down to its surface. The darker areas are vast hydrocarbon sand dunes and seas.

Both images were taken by Cassini's camera system, the Imaging Science Subsystem on January 1, 2014, during Cassini's Titan (T-97) Flyby: wp.me/p2WQE3-8S.

These images were taken on January 01, 2014 and received on Earth January 02, 2014. The camera was pointing toward TITAN at approximately 89,126 miles (143,435 kilometers) away, and the images were taken using the CL1, RED, BL1, CB3 and GRN filters.

Two unusual things happened on Earth around 460 million years ago: a bunch of asteroid impacts near the equator & an intense global cold spell. Possibly both were the result of an asteroid that broke up & gave our planet a pretty but deadly set of rings. 🧪 eos.org/articles/a-c...
Earth could have had rings like this around 460 million years ago.
