Tonight I saw the 40th anniversary “concert tour” of Labyrinth – the film was screened with a live, six-piece band. The print of the film was open-captioned, which was great, but none of the song lyrics were captioned. I cannot understand what thinking led to that decision.

Accents aside, the new Guys & Dolls recording – the first of the restored original orchestrations – is great. The presence of Sierra Boggess, who was so wonderful in the Carnegie Hall concert version a few years ago, makes me wish that entire cast had been recorded.
