He is risen, Alleluia! Happy Easter everyone. May the Lord continue to renew our faith and show us the true meaning of Easter throughout the year. I did not attend Mass for the first time in 7 years, but I attended ceremony and spent the Great Vigil in God’s beautiful creation.

Long time no post…. Off to church… it’s hard being involved in cultural activities and being an active member of a church. But we show up how and as we can… tired of sacrificing one for the other. Also, yes flowers in Lent since I’m reading about the Dry Bones! 🦴

Spent the day exploring Fort Bowie which is now managed by the NPS. Someone mentioned massive layoffs throughout the organization and the administration trying to erase history… which of course is in the news here and there but added to the sadness of this place linked to so much cruelty.

I swear they think getting rid of the data means the problem doesn’t exist. 🫩 Lord help us be good stewards on this very good Mother Earth you’ve formed us from, and rekindle in us a connection to Her that we are increasingly losing. Allow us to see clearly our dependence on Her.

I just want to say again: Anglocatholicism is NOT in vestments, music, or esthetics. It’s 100% in the theology. You can have a charismatic charism and have an Anglo-catholic ethos. You can also be a high dry American Missal substitutionary atonement with a fiddle back, ad orientem & Protestant. ⚓️

A Rosary for the Victims of DHS Agencies for the Rosary being prayed tomorrow before the Requiem Mass for the victims of ICE. I notice all the glaring errors in format now, but too tired to change. Pray with us from near or far.
Sorrowful Mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary

[black and white image of Our Lady of Guadalupe]

In Memory of All Victims of DHS Agencies

St. Mary's Episcopal Church
6501 N 39th Avenue
Phoenix, AZ 85019+ In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Opening Prayers are said
First Sorrowful Mystery: The Agony in the Garden
"He withdrew from them about a stone's throw, knelt down, and prayed, Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me; still, not my will but yours be done? And to strengthen him, an angel from heaven appeared to him. He was in such agony and he prayed so fervently that his sweat became like drops of blood falling on the ground!" — Luke 22:41-44
Reflection:
Jesus enters the garden knowing suffering is coming. He feels fear, loneliness, and anguish so deep that He sweats blood.
We pray for all who live in constant fear—those who go to sleep unsure if they will be taken from their families, those who feel hunted, unseen, or disposable. We remember Renee Good, Alex Pretti, and all who have suffered or died under systems that treat human lives as expendable.
Lord, you know the terror of waiting for harm to come. Stay with all who feel abandoned, and give us the courage not to turn away from their suffering.
Second Sorrowful Mystery: The Scourging at the Pillar
Scripture:
"Then Pilate took Jesus and had him scourged." — John 19:1
Reflection:
Jesus is bound and beaten. His body is wounded again and again, stripped of dignity.
We pray for all whose bodies and spirits have been harmed by violence, neglect, or cruelty—especially those abused by institutions meant to protect life. We remember those injured, detained, or broken by harsh policies and indifference.Christ, in your wounded body we see every person whose humanity has been denied.
Heal what has been torn, and soften the hearts of those who inflict harm.
Third Sorrowful Mystery: The Crowning with Thorns Scripture:
"The soldiers wove a crown out of thorns and placed it on his head, and clothed him in a purple cloak, and they came to him and said, 'Hail, King of the Jews!" And they struck him repeatedly." —John 19:2-3
Reflection:
Jesus is mocked, humiliated, and treated as less than human.
We pray for all who are ridiculed, dehumanized, or reduced to labels—called "illegal"
"criminal," or "other." We remember how words and power can wound as deeply as fists.
Lord Jesus, crowned with thorns, you stand with every person shamed or silenced.
Teach us to speak truth with compassion and to resist systems that profit from humiliation and fear.
Fourth Sorrowful Mystery: The Carrying of the Cross
Scripture:
"They pressed into service a passer-by, Simon, a Cyrenian, to help carry his cross."
ーMark 15:21
Reflection:
Jesus stumbles under the weight of the cross, helped only briefly by a stranger.
We pray for those crushed by burdens they did not choose: families torn apart, children forced to grow up too fast, communities living under constant threat. We remember Renee, Alex, and all victims whose crosses were made heavier by injustice.
Christ, help us to be like Simon-to step in, to share the weight, to refuse to walk past suffering when we see it.Fifth Sorrowful Mystery: The Crucifixion
Scripture:
"When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him... esus cried out in a loud voice, Father, into your hands I commend my spirit; and when he had said this he breathed his last." — Luke 23:33, 46
Reflection:
Jesus is killed by the violence of the state, abandoned, and mourned by those who loved Him.
We pray for all who have died because systems valued control over compassion and power over mercy. We entrust Renee Good, Alex Pretti, and all victims of injustice into the hands of our God of Love.
Jesus, unjustly executed, you know the suffering of innocent death. May your mercy receive the dead, comfort the grieving, and awaken us to the sacred dignity of every human life.
Hail Holy Queen
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy!
Hail, our life, our sweetness, and our hope!
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.
To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn, then, most gracious advocate, thy eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
V. Pray for us O Holy Mother of God
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
A Concluding Prayer is Said

Treyvon Martin would have been 31 years old today, had George Zimmerman stopped to ask a teenager walking in the rain if he needed a ride home. Instead he stalked Treyvon in the dark, and gunned him down for the crime of walking, in a hoodie, in the rain, while being black.

“This is my body, broken for you.”
Communion
There's no bread.
The bakers have gone into hiding.
The seats at the table are empty.
The Twelve are out marching with the thousands.
The streets are filled with a new song.
Only Judas sits at Target Plaza, counting his silver, while Pontius Pilate issues a carefully-worded statement.
Meanwhile, the centurions have quotas to fill.
But out on the streets there's a Communion.
Jesus takes the city in his hands and says,
"This is my body, broken for you"

I’d like to acknowledge my home state for some positive news. Democrats defeated a MAGA in the US House run off election, which isn’t surprising for that seat. What is surprising: a Democrat won against a MAGA in State House District 9, a district that Mango Mussolini won by 17 points in 2024.

I am no poet, but I wrote down something that came on my heart recently when I was pondering the Holy Trinity. I’m putting it in the alt text of the image. I call it “Triune”
Before before,
before time learned to tick,
Love was already speaking.
Not alone. Never alone.
Love needs an Other
and God was never lonely.

The Father:
source without origin,
a generosity so full
it spills into begetting.
Not power clenched,
but gift endlessly given.

The Son:
Word spoken so perfectly
He is the Saying itself.
Facing the Father,
receiving everything,
and giving it all back
“Yes” answering “Yes”
without remainder.

Between Them
no space, yet room to breathe
the Spirit moves.
Not a thing, not a force,
but the living between,
the joy that happens
when Love is returned.
The kiss, the fire, the breath
that is both shared and sharing.

No hierarchy of distance,
no rivalry of wills.
Each Person wholly God,
each forever turned toward the Others.

Identity born not from isolation
but from communion.
Here is motion without change,
rest that is alive,
unity that does not erase difference.

A circle that never closes
because it is always opening.
And from this eternal exchange this laughter of light,
this music with no first note
creation overflows.

We are not made by a solitary ruler, but by a God who is relationship itself.
Which is why love costs us something,
why joy requires sorrow,
why we ache to belong.

To be made in this image
is to be invited
into the dance
to give, to receive,
to let the Spirit teach our rhythmless hearts
how to move.

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit:
not three Gods, not one alone,
but Love knowing itself,
forever, and calling us by name.

As a deer longs for flowing streams, so my soul longs for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and behold the face of God? My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me continually, "Where is your God?" These thing's I remember, as I pour out my soul: how I went with the throng and led them in procession to the house of God, with glad shouts and songs of thanksgiving, a multitude keeping festival. Why are you cast down, 0 my soul, and why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise him, my help & my God.
