"relatively" in the water is tbh an understatement since on paper it's not as agile and all as it is on land but in practice it's more than fast and agile enough, the difference is pretty minor at best

and comfortable on the ground and spends much if not most of the time on it, with flight primarily being used to travel longer distances or get to places more conveniently or avoid danger, and crucially also capable and comfortable in the water with an affinity for it (thal can eat fish)

martini 🏳️‍⚧️ @iteratingdragons.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

certainly not as much as the semi-aquatics or full aquatics (or even rhamp i think?) but it still feels like a notable difference to me everything put together updated thal basically perfectly scratches the dragon brain itch of what i am/should be; quick and agile, capable of flight but competent +

martini 🏳️‍⚧️ @iteratingdragons.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

walk, fly And swim while being (relatively, in the water) fast and agile the entire time and i swear it feels like they made the breath timer longer bc it used to go down so fast, that was one of my issues with old thal, but now i can stay under for a lot longer, it's not a Crazy long time and +

100

martini 🏳️‍⚧️ @iteratingdragons.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

thal Also can swim (more specifically dive) unlike hatz which is another point in its favour for Probably becoming my main, partially bc i like being all-terrain so to speak as well as i just naturally lean/am drawn to favour playing semiaquatic things when possible, so i really like being able to +

martini 🏳️‍⚧️ @iteratingdragons.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

both on the ground and in the air so ive already been pretty ballsy in how close ive gotten to others or let other people get to me on it, Far moreso than i would Ever be on hatz, because i feel pretty confident in my ability to escape/evade attackers As Well As defend myself and not die in a fight

100

martini 🏳️‍⚧️ @iteratingdragons.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

clumsy to maneuver sometimes and i do Not feel confident in my ability to defend myself/not get folded like an omelet in a fight on it thal, meanwhile, is significantly smaller so it doesn't stick out visibly nearly as much as hatz does, especially now that it can crouch, and it's fast and agile +

100

martini 🏳️‍⚧️ @iteratingdragons.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

i <3 hatz, it's my favourite pterosaur and i have fun playing it but it is as i saw someone somewhere aptly put it like flying a bus, so while it might be a lot tankier than thal (maybe not so much anymore with the defense hide for ground thal from what ive heard....) it can be a bit awkward and +

100

martini 🏳️‍⚧️ @iteratingdragons.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

since i mentioned it, i am Very Pleased with the thal tlc not only does it look sooo much better but it has a whole (apparently "scary") ground build so i can fully commit to my primarily terrestrial playstyle i like to do with flyers, much more confidently than on hatz diff subs but old v new thal

martini 🏳️‍⚧️ @iteratingdragons.bsky.social · 18/02/2026

old art but between the thalassodromeus tlc in path of titans (extremely good) and the mh wilds update i am yet again thinking about flying wyverns based on/inspired by pterosaurs. they should do that it would be sick

Textbooks tend to say it's William Buckland or Robert T. Bakker, who made modern dinosaurs. But what if I told you, palaeoart started in South Africa, was revolutionised by Nazi-fighting Polish women and illustrated by an Oxfordian homemaker and her pet tortoise? Let's rewrite the history 👇

Dinosaurs have captured our imagination for centuries—but many of the people behind their discovery have been written out of the story. In 𝙒𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙎𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 – 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙄𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙒𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝘿𝙞𝙣𝙤𝙨𝙖𝙪𝙧𝙨, Dr. Natalia Jagielska takes us on a lively journey through the hidden history of palaeontology.

Expect tales that are equal parts ridiculous and remarkable: a young girl fossil-hunting with her dog on England’s coast, a resourceful housewife experimenting with prehistoric remains at home, and daring scientists uncovering Velociraptor skeletons while resisting Nazi forces in the desert.
This talk reveals how women, often left out from official historical records, helped transform dinosaurs into icons of modern science.

👩🔬 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫: Dr. Jagielska is a Polish-born palaeontologist, award-winning artist, and former museum collections officer, now at CUHK researching the skin and fur of flying reptiles from the age of dinosaurs.

人們向來對已滅絕的恐龍充滿了幻想，但原來在發掘恐龍背後，有許多關鍵人物被歷史忽略了！來自生命科學學院的博士後研究員 Dr. Natalia JAGIELSKA 將主講一場別開生面的講座，題爲《Women in Science – The Invisible Women and Their Dinosaurs》。

This talk is jointly organised by The Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Faculty of Science, Diversity and Inclusion Office, and Women Academics Sub-Committee.
此講座由香港中文大學的理學院、多元共融事務處以及女教員小組委員會共同舉辦。

A couple years back I did a trio of Enantiornithes illustrations for wikipedia/free use. Enantiornithes are underappreciated & wikipedia has too few of them illustrated, making it harder for people's imaginations to be sparked by how unusual they are! Here's the first - Lectavis bretincola 🎨🐡🦉🧪

Lectavis bretincola, an enantiornithine bird seen here tossing back a hermit crab into its open mouth, with the shell laying at its feet in a swampy patch of vegetation in an estuary. The bird has a black and white spotted back, long wader-like legs, and only a pair of short twin tail feathers rather than a full feather fan.

tldr on what i mean by truesona, it's basically the closest thing i have as a representation of what i feel like i should be/what i feel like i actually am, my "true" self, that just happens to be stuck in a human body this go-round (cycle, if you will)
