(He/Him) I’m a big fan of video games, video game history, and anime. Currently spending my spare time working on trying to find all of the digital pinball games released for consoles and handhelds. And playing Wacca. I love Wacca.

Took a trip to Past Times in Girard with @baddadadam.bsky.social and another friend today. I don’t know what happened but I set 4 new PBs on Stern tables. I was kinda on fire today in a way that I’m normally not.

Is that in this version of Funimation’s Kodocha release? I can grab a clip if you know which episode(s) they cameo in.

I don’t know that I’ve seen a reference to the Magnavox Odyssey in an anime before.
Screenshot from Botan Kamiina Blossoms Drunk Episode 4. There’s a stack of game console boxes for the Olympia (Magnavox Odyssey), Vega Return (Sega Saturn), Shutendo Super Kamicom (Nintendo Super Famicom), Vega Mega Drive (Sega Mega Drive), Pony WS2 (Sony PS2), and what I think is the Xbox One S.

Hey @sam-animeherald.bsky.social! I was going through some old NewType posters/inserts and found this in the stack. Do you have a copy of this in your Sakura Taisen collection?
A small art book about the size of a US comic book. The cover says “Sakura Wars” in a font that is mimicking the Star Wars font, followed by the white text “ART FILE SELECTION”. Sakura from Sakura Taisen is featured below the text. She’s in front of a black, starry background.

It was a surprise that we got to meet Jun at MAGFest in 2017. We asked him if he worked on the opening theme because we loved it. He said he didn't perform it and confirmed he composed it. He seemed amused that we were so excited about that. He had neat energy and was super cool to meet.

Jumping back into #RandomGameSaturday by closing my eyes and grabbing something from the Saturn shelf. I landed on two games and decided to go with Victory Goal '96 autographed by Jun Senoue. I've hardly played it because I'm not into soccer. What I love is its amazing soundtrack and opening theme.

I threw this together with the Bluesky Feed Creator website and I'm still looking at the different options that are available. As it is though, it's been an easy way to see what everyone is sharing. I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing but I'l try to keep it working properly.

Going through some pictures from our honeymoon to Toronto back in 2010. It was amazing to explore the city and I'll never forget how absolutely wonderful all of the people we met were. I want to make another trip up there even though I know a lot of the places we went to aren't there anymore.
The side of the Honest Ed's storefront at dusk. The sign is full of beautiful incandescent lights, though some are burnt out in a way that makes it more charming than it would look if they were all perfectly lit.The inside of the comic book store The Labyrinth. There are two rows of bookshelves. The shelf in the middle is low enough that you can look over it. All of them are full of books, trade paperbacks, and toys. There's a poster with their mascot, a cute little dinosaur with a bow tie that's smiling while holding a pencil and a book. My beautiful wife is in the corner glowing as she takes it all in.The inside of the A&C Games retro gaming store. It's thin with just enough room for two people to squeeze by. The store is packed with amazing video games from floor to ceiling. It's bursting at the seams with awesomeness. My beloved wife is chatting with the wonderful guy who is working behind the counter. She's mid conversation with him and somewhat deflated because we already spent our money for the trip and she noticed there's a boxed PAL copy of New Ghostbusters II for the NES behind him (outside the frame of the picture). We picked it up before we left. :)A picture outside of Sonic Boom, a store that sells movies, music, games, etc... There is a sign to the left that says they buy and sell compact discs and DVD's. Unfortunately you can't see much of the store inside because the photo is taken from across the street.

I think the most important question is will Jun make this same face in the remake?
A still from Samurai Troopers episode 4 where Jun is looking off into the distance. His eyes are on the outer edges of his head and his mouth is a single line that stretches through his cheek, almost to his right ear. The left part of his mouth looks like it lines up with his nose. It's so hard to describe what kind of face he's making. I think they mean for it to be like he's soul searching but instead he looks like he just lost the battle with a fart he was holding in for too long.

Before anyone sees “Hardcard” and thinks maybe that’s what people called 3.5in disks, Hardcards were a whole other thing too.
A section from a Micro Center advertisement that features a Hardcard EZ 85. The listed description reads:

The Hardcard EZ 85MB hard drive is the trouble-free way to upgrade your system with the high-performance storage you need to run disk-intensive software, like Windows and OS/2. Installation is fast and easy. Just drop the Hardcard EZ into an expansion slot, run the installation software and you have 85MB of hard drive storage capacity with an average seek time of 17ms. The Hardcard EZ drives are the only upgrades that are guaranteed to perform side by side with your existing drive! It also offers compatibility with all 286 systems and with all popular operating systems.

A few pages later and we have several 3.5in and 5.25in floppy drives for sale. Iomega’s 3.5in Floptical drive is here too, which is a whole other thing but still incorporates “floppy” into their brand name. Up at the top, even this page of the peripherals section lists “Floppy Drives”
Another page from a Micro Center advertisement. The top of the page reads “Floppy Drives / Hard Drives / Hardcard / CD-ROM.” On the page there are listings for multiple 3.5in floppy drives, 5.25in floppy drives, and an Iomega 21MB 3.5in Floptical Insider drive.

If we continue flipping through, there are more references to floppy disks. Here in this Tips and Traps section, Glenn is talking about how new drivers not included in a base Windows install have their own drivers on a floppy disk. He’s not using separate terms for whether those are 5.25in or 3.5in.
Another section of a Micro Center advertisement. This one has a Tips and Traps column by Glenn McAtee. It reads:

COMPAO PROLINEA WINDOWS DRIVERS. Like many new computers, the Compaq ProLinea comes with prein-stalled software (and no diskettes). The preinstalled software includes Microsoft Windows. This brings up an important point — if you need to change the system configuration (for instance, to add a printer or pick a different video driv-er), the Windows SETUP program will prompt you to put in one of the original diskettes. But you have no original diskettes, of course.
All the default drivers (those that ship with Microsoft Windows) are available. When the system prompts you for a diskette in the A: drive, simply enter "C: \WIN-DOWS \OPTIONS" to specify the preinstalled subdirectory that contains all the drivers.
Bear in mind that NEW drivers (updated printer drivers or drivers for nonstandard equipment) must be installed from the floppy diskettes that come with each new device. The documentation or README files on the diskette(s) should contain instructions.

PRINTSHOP FOR WINDOWS. If you have problems with page breaks occurring while you are printing banners on your Panasonic 2124 printer, try the following:
Locate the PSD section in the PSDWIN.INI file. PSD-
WIN.INI is a text file in the C:\WINDOWS directory. It can be edited with the DOS "EDIT" command, or with Windows Notepad. Change the fourth line to read
"SHRINK MARGIN=0".
Next, select the Epson LQ-2500
printer driver (instead of the Panasonic driver). This should eliminate the problem.

The people saying they are called “diskettes” aren’t technically wrong. However, 5.25in disks were also called diskettes. This wasn’t new branding for 5.25in disks. On this same page, you can see reference to “Premium Diskettes” for sale, and it references both 5.25in and 3.5in disks.

Getting ready to sell of some of our games tomorrow. I’ve long advocated for leaving price tags on games because they can tell their own sets of stories. It can’t be overstated how cheap many of these games used to be. Figured I’d share since these are likely to lose their tags once I let them go.

From the Crunchyroll translation: "Why did you give up on your search? Why do you keep fighting by yourself? Say, what kind of future did you prepare for? Have you fulfilled your dream?" This feels powerful juxtaposed with Sanji's cape showing the weight of the memories from how he left.
A screen capture of Sanji from One Piece in the opening sequence from the Hope opening. He's walking forward looking down with his hands in his pocket. A ridiculously large cape is flowing and showing Luffy staring at him angrily. The subtitle shows "Why did you give up on your search?"

Neat finds! Pataank is something else for sure. I was lucky enough to get my copy autographed by Rob Fulop a few years ago. He was super cool and shared some neat stories. He also seemed a little exasperated that, of all the games he worked on, this was what I brought for him autograph. LOL

Mook was the first bun I lived with. She was sweet and majestic. I’d sneak into the carrot bag and pull a carrot top off for her as a little treat. As she ate them, they would spin like a propellor coming out of her mouth before disappearing completely. I’m happy we could be friends before she left.

We had two VCRs and I'd copy as much as I could. I didn't have much money so I copied them in LP or SLP. I wish I had been able to copy these at a higher quality. It's frustrating because later on I would save money by trimming out the commercials, which I'm the most interested in now. 3/3

It’s wild how expensive everything is nowadays. I was fortunate to have had a good job and low bills when things were bottoming out like this in the mid 90s. There’s no way that our collection would be what it is now if we hadn’t started until 15 years ago. The old days were truly wild.
