Please, take a moment to share, and consider following the Musicians of the Nashville Symphony on social media. We, the members of the Nashville music community need your support in this terrible crisis.

My family and I made our home here because it’s music city. The music scene is incredibly vibrant, unique among the cities where I’ve lived. If there’s no resolution to this, the scene here will likely never be the same.

My friends who work in the game industry, many of these musicians are session players also, and they’ve been involved in the creation of many of the biggest game soundtracks of the last decade. This crisis has enormous potential to trickle down into the recording scene here.

There was a new CEO who had just started as leader of the organization. He has now been…fired? Asked to resign? Stepped down? The board has installed one of their members as acting CEO. The whole thing stinks.

To put this in context, the symphony had just hired a number of new members, several of whom moved here over the summer. They had just started to collect a paycheck, and now their lives are completely upended.

This orchestra started their 2026-27 season, and then a few weeks in, they were told “sorry, we have to shut down in three weeks.” As it stands now, it looks like all seventy-seven members are going to be furloughed without pay or benefits.

I first played with the Nashville Symphony in 2015, making mine an eleven year association with the group. During that time, I’ve had two 1-year full-time contracts, and some years I have played with them almost every week, even without a contract. I do not have a contract with them at present.

The 80-year-old arts nonprofit’s board voted unanimously to take steps toward overcoming a $10 million deficit in its operating budget by ending its regular season early and putting staff on furlough....

I’ve been mostly laying low, post surgery last week, but that’s given me plenty of time to make my way through two paths of Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. This one has been sticking in my brain, had to try something with it now that I’m off of the couch a bit more.

FEFW giving me massive decision paralysis during free time segments so I started parsing this out instead (WIP Dagsion day theme, Throngs of Dagsion - Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave). Should prob start using the auto activities function

That’s not to say every use of a sample library is immoral, if a company with a smaller budget hires a composer and can’t pay them enough to hire live musicians, they do the best they can to make great music within their means. But when a company like Nintendo does it, it’s unconscionable.

Andrew Dunn @israfelcello.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Using a sample library is essentially another way of using automated tools to cut out humans who make their living actually playing the instruments. To me, the music sounds robotic, artificial, but whether it sounds good to some people isn’t the point. We should value the work of humans in music.

I think you’ll like it! The little I’ve played - HD2D is getting even more gorgeous. FFBE suffered from the problems that all gacha games suffer from, but it had a solid story, interesting gameplay and was a lovely throwback to old school Final Fantasy.

How is everyone feeling about the Final Fantasy Resonance demo so far? I was a FFBE player a long time ago so have been really looking forward to this one!

Truth. Article wants me to sign up to read, but I can guess. It’s confounded me sometimes that a segment has these positions I agree with (remove pesticides and junk from our food and plastics from our environment) and so many others that are bonkers.

My son is obsessed with this bread - tiger milk bread, as it has light and dark stripes once you cut into it. I expect I’ll be making a lot of these loaves (hard work, but someone has to do it).

The process of a Discocactus arrangement is wildly varied between all of us; luckily for you, we love talking about it! Laura talks more about inspiration, structure, and what it was like to work with our collaborators on our newest track, Une Vie a T'aimer!

I’ve been missing my dear VGM community terribly 😢, so yesterday I booked my plane ticket for GameSoundCon. As of now, who all am I likely to see there?

I'm super thrilled to share with you that I'm the composer for Elta: Defy All Gods. I've had so much fun writing the music for this amazing game. And you'll get to hear some of it when we launch a demo on Oct. 1 on Xbox Series X|S and PS5! You are in for a ride. WOO!

It takes a lot of self reflection to give a sincere apology. I definitely respect that, even if there are still differences that have not been overcome.

Excited for new cover coming this week with @envatilea.bsky.social ❤️ she’ll be repping a wholesome choirgirl who's collateral damage in an evil pope's scheme to power a ludicrous giant statue using her boyfriend with a demonic arm, while I pay tribute to the swagged-up uncle bailing their asses out

And the other thing that I’ve been thinking about is how opera used to be an absolutely dominant art form among the public. It seems that film and video games have taken its place in a way.

The parallel I’ve been reflecting on is the role of the music to support a visual medium. The ways that the music interacts with the action can certainly be quite different, but I feel like there are some similarities worth some study.
