Got on a heater yesterday, 7 birdies in a row! Thought I'd hit a new best round but then a screwed up a few of the easier holes later on and tied my best score. Somehow that got me a better round rating though, so that's something. (Where was this during the tournament...?)

Sooooon.... Gotta let the rain dry a touch first. As I discovered a few weeks ago, having to dry your discs after every throw will add roughly 30 minutes to your round.

The only thing that rivals cats and luggage is cats and boxes. It has to be some kind of cat form of gravity.

Don't think we'll be having too much beer on the deck #nlwx left this "summer". But man oh man it's nice.

Two days in a row of brush cutter work here at Gander Disc Golf Course, and coincidentally, two days in a row for #TeaByTheSeaInTheTrees: Airport Nordic edition. #nlwx is making this work perfect to be out doing.

We miss it too. The techs will get to it at some point, but there's just a few techs to cover the whole province so they kinda do the repairs strategically given the large travel distances. Could be waiting on a part as well.

Well I finally got an answer about all the brown trees just outside of Clarenville. Seems it was a spotted tussock moth. Doesn't discriminate what trees it goes after apparently. #TheMoreYouKnow

El nino years do tend to be a roller coaster ride of back and fourth for this part of the world. Probably a lot of storms going up into the gulf, one gets strong enough to drag some cold air down and we get a few classic nor easter style ones, and then back to the gulf or through Labrador. Repeat.

I could do Mr. Sub, it's just much rarer than subway unfortunately. I seem to recall a good commercial from 15 to 20 years ago from Quiznos. But it talks to my point, when you're hungry, you will cave more easily than otherwise. Cause yeah, I often want to punch an ad exec :P

The only exception is maybe fast food places, when you're hungry and there's no other options. Cause subway has had some God AWFUL commercials, and I will unfortunately still eat there... mostly cause the other places seem to hate vegetables.

Cape Breton totals so far: 150-250+ mm in 48 hrs. Showers/periods of rain continue to track in. Another trace to 5 mm today for most; however, potential for another 10 to 20 mm across Victoria county and through Sydney and Cape Breton county. The rain finally tapers off tonight and into Monday.

Also this big car sized mossy rock has enchanted me. Wanted to have my tea up there but there's no climbing holds, I would have stripped all the moss off it trying.

Another Gander Disc Golf edition of #TeaByTheSeaInTheTrees today, since #nlwx currently isn't much good for anything else. Just a bit of cleaning up before the upcoming tournament. In spite of all the grey and drizzle, it aint so bad out here.

As long as it's not planting trees i'm game. Although I don't think it's a bad thing to plant trees, I just don't think its particularly effective carbon capture if the forest is likely going to burn down in the future.

Justin Boudreau @isotachtics.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
Yeah cutting green initiatives because of economic reasons may not be the play, considering how much money climate change will cost us if we're not prepared.

Justin Boudreau @isotachtics.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
Yeah there's no magic bullet. But first we gotta stop the bleeding, and then we might need to figure out some way to clean up some of the "blood". Once emissions are net 0, then maybe you put some a scattered few carbon capture things and bring us down for 2 C down down to... 1? 1.5? over time.

Justin Boudreau @isotachtics.bsky.social · 02/09/2026
I kinda feel like we need to do a bit of it (after the cutting major emissions) cause we're definitely overshooting the safe climate zone before the emissions get under check.

Wabush was reporting freezing fog this morning... Ladies and Gentlemen, we'll be making our descent down into winter now, please stow all your summer valuables and make sure your tray table is in the upright and locked position. I'm just kidding, it's not that drastic, but still... he comin. #nlwx

I've always wanted to be present at a family supper at Peter Cullen's house to see if him saying something mundane like "Would you please pass the salt?" in his Optimus voice would make it sound awesome. Let's be honest, we know it would. Iconic voice.

Tried to get the phone to take a decent moon shot, turned the exposed down and got this... Close enough I suppose? Amusing to note that the full moon is apparently tomorrow night. Coulda fooled me, other than it's not eclipsing, so it's not full.
