This video of Chicagoans intervening to save a man from being abducted off the streets by ICE is making the rounds on Instagram. Community action works. Source: www.instagram.com/reel/DPZL2AL...

It looks like Tiktok might be being "banned" again in the US this weekend. Coincidently, just in time for a major protest. Weird. Honestly, I can't think of a better birthday gift than for the government to show more of its true colors. Expect to see more of me over here and on skylight.

ANYWAY, did you know there's an extension you can put on Chrome that will connect with your local library system and when you go look at a book, say on AMZ, it will tell you if that book exists in the library system and if it's available? It's literally called Library Extension.

People who arrive at their job, park, and immediately get out of the car when you're not running late, can you tell me your secret? Because I need 5-10 business minutes to convince myself not to turn around and go home every single day.

Anywho, if you're interested in crowdfunding and don't know where to start, I made a FAQ that lives permanently on my website under Author Resources. I'll update it again in April-ish after we run our first Backerkit campaign. docs.google.com/document/d/1...

Yes. This is a thing but i can't remember what it's called exactly.

It can be. It's definitely rewarding. The call is brutal sometimes though. Last week I worked 10 hours and got called back in from 12am-4am. Luckily I was off the next day or I would have had to be back at 7am. Work/life balance is hard.

I work in Neuro-Interventional Radiology for my day job. Meaning that when someone has a stroke or a subarachnoid hemmorhage, I scrub in alongside a neurologist or neurosurgeon and help fix their broken brain.

OpenAI says it has proof that Deepseek used its work without permission to create something meant to undermine and destroy its product. On behalf of all the authors whose novels and stories were taken as training data, oh no that must be so hard for you.

Pin this, save it, we’ll need it. “When a prison camp opens in your town…when a DREAMer is disappeared from your classroom…when the President destroys what’s left of the Constitution…They will all say they didn’t know this was coming. And I want the American people to know that they did.” AOC 🔥🎯

Once again, reading comprehension is key. I get my news from multiple sources. Tiktok just happened to, many times, have breaking news MUCH EARLIER than those other sources. Geez, people.

Welcome! I'm currently working on a spicy, sapphic romance, a spicy romcom, and a non-spicy dystopian romance. It varies depending on the day.

Isla Drake @isladrakewrites.bsky.social · 19/01/2025

Today feels like the right day to work on my dystopian novel. I can't quite put my finger on why.🤔 #booksky

Isla Drake @isladrakewrites.bsky.social · 19/01/2025

Reading comprehension is hard, I know. I said I sometimes got news on tiktok days before it showed up other places. I don't get my news from any single place.

Tiktok is back, but it feels like letting a changeling back into my home. Something isn't right. I'd love to be wrong, but it just feels off somehow. Anyone else feel that way?

to recap: — Trump was *for* the TikTok ban — which the GOP Congress passed — and the GOP Supreme Court upheld — and even though Biden said he wouldn't enforce the ban, TikTok shut down anyway — so that Trump could "save" it — and the media fell for it we really do live in the dumbest fucking country

It's honestly less about the "fun app we love" and more about losing this way to communicate instantly with people all over the world. I got my news from tiktok sometimes days before it showed up on tv or other outlets. This loss puts us in the dark on so many things and it's a little unsettling.

I'm currently reading Hunger Games fanfic when I'm not writing 2 different books. One is a spicy, sapphic, contemporary romance and one is a dystopian novel with a splash of romance (closed door).

Hi. I figured I'd actually introduce myself. I'm an indie author who writes spicy, contemporary romance. I'm also a wife, mom, and healthcare worker with a crazy schedule. I have 9 books and 2 novellas so far with 2 more novels on the way in 2025, including my first Sapphic book. #booksky

I know it's a new year and the holidays are behind us, but let's be real. 2025 is already kind of a bust. Why not read a spicy, holiday novella to chase away the blues? He's a little bossy. She's a little bratty. They make a perfect pair, really. Tied in Tinsel is still in KU for now!

I'm currently experiencing all the symptoms from a Nyquil commercial, but I'm also on a deadline. If this book starts to read like a fever dream of holiday fuckery, blame the cold meds.
