there was an early rumour that JSOC was asked to do something, but i think that got quashed later on.

Yeah so, the graph of the russian bots isn't really relevant. But for unrelated reasons, i think there probably is a decline in twitter posts

so theyll still deliver the patriots to germany, but restrict their use which is within contract. I would give a shot ignoring that if at all possible

anyway, im sure its nothing, and the US military didnt take this seriously, and therefore it doesnt matter. For sure

Isaiah Bishop @isaiahbishop.bsky.social · 14h
We are definitely trying to angle to a scandi/arctic diversification angle. And be an alternate supplier for some ISR stuff. Replacing starlink is apparently on Carney's agenda. That does double duty managing US and providing for the alliance. Plus energy and critical minerals
060
Isaiah Bishop @isaiahbishop.bsky.social · 14h
yeah exactly, but i think uniquely no one in Europe can perform US-level industry on its own. That puts you in a more unique placement where everyone needs to rely on each other for some aspect of fighting
040
Isaiah Bishop @isaiahbishop.bsky.social · 14h
I think the unique part here is that the US is so central. No other partner is really similar at all. We should really be grateful that france gave a shit to develop its own satellite stuff for targeting

duplication and cross dependence! Almost the exact opposite of US policy for 2-3 decades lol

yes so anyway i'm ready for another lecture about why duplication is bad from US mil people

I feel pretty strongly that if you look at this, and don't feel like the security relationship has changed, or should change, thats delusional

There's a lot of problems here, like iirc germany was doing a bit of forward swap with ukraine in terms of sending them patriots. that can be restricted by US. Ukraine was supposed to get 2 SAMP batteries but idk the story there

like you really think we shouldn't look at US supply chains and support here? Idk. I would

Isaiah Bishop @isaiahbishop.bsky.social · 15h
With regard to US support for Europe, it does seem like its not 100% on side here
616013
Isaiah Bishop @isaiahbishop.bsky.social · 15h
it turns out you basically want the elected govt to do things, and if you want to dilute power, probably better to do it within that mechanism rather than layering on another one

I do think its a bit wild when people are like "why didnt lat am learn from us?" as US politics is becoming more lat am.

who could forget the famous salisbury cathedral? but yeah killing people on country soil doesnt exactly make everyone intimidated
150
Isaiah Bishop @isaiahbishop.bsky.social · 15h
I think i understood this stuff more when i learned that culturally, its spy service just has a quota of time for these kind of missions that are intimidation/propaganda/etc. Like weirdly a lot of it might just be bureaucratic inertia

Isaiah Bishop @isaiahbishop.bsky.social · 15h
Yeah that makes sense. Population grew a bunch, theres also the weird synergy with the cruise industry
