To everyone working on DAG-CBOR/DRISL implementations. There was a small update to that specs that shouldn't cause much problems, but is newsworthy: negative zero -0.0 is now forbidden. I recommend serializing it with the bytes from `0.0`. github.com/ipld/ipld/pu... github.com/darobin/dasl...

fix: reject -0.0 by vmx · Pull Request #65 · ipld/serde_ipld_dagcbor
For IEEE 754 floats -0.0 is equal to 0.0. It makes sense to have only a single representation for the same numbers, hence always encode it as 0.0, i.e. 0x0000000000000000.

Hey we shipped a new Go code generator for lexicon types. Been in production for a couple weeks now 🥳 Based off of @bnewbold.net's cobalt work and @hypha.coop's go-dasl for DRISL serialization. Copies indigo's echo server stub generation verbatim. 100% compatible with @atproto/lex lockfiles.

Cool property of atproto that isn't talked about is how CIDs make mirroring free. 1 user publishes 1 record, that takes ~1kb in the blockstore 1 user publishes 100 records, that takes ~100kb 100 users publish the same 100 records, and that... also takes ~100kb

Matadisco uses ATProto to let anyone publish dataset records and build domain-specific discovery portals. Many research orgs already use IPFS to store and verify datasets reliably. Matadisco makes them findable and useful.

IPIP-0499: UnixFS CID Profiles
040
IPFS @ipfs.tech · 16/03/2026
IPIP-0499 fixes this with 2 named profiles. In addition to deterministic CIDs, we also get: ⚡ Faster verification (compare CIDs directly, no need to fetch underlying data) 🌿 Better performance (shallower DAG trees, faster seeks, fewer DHT announcements)

IPFS @ipfs.tech · 16/03/2026
Content-addressing promised consistent, reproducible CIDs for identical data, but encoding parameters got in the way. Uploading the same file with Kubo, Helia, or Singularity could produce 3 different CIDs because each one used different chunking, DAG width, and HAMT settings.

IPFS @ipfs.tech · 16/03/2026
A small but meaningful update: IPIP-0499 is now merged into the IPFS spec! We're introducing configuration profiles for CIDs. 🧩 🧵
